Gallop: Majority Opposed to Impeaching and Removing Trump: Poll

National Interest: Majority Opposed to Impeaching and Removing Trump: Poll

His approval ratings have shot up.

President Donald Trump’s job approval rating inched up six percentage points since House Democrats opened an impeachment inquiry against him, according to a Gallop poll published Wednesday.

The president’s job approval rating is now at 45% while Americans remain divided over whether Trump should be impeached, Gallup’s poll found. Currently, 46% support impeachment and removal, down six points from when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced the inquiry.

More than 50% oppose impeachment and removal, an increase of five percentage points.

The poll, which was conducted between Dec. 2-15, shows political independents are shifting on the issue — they supported impeachment in October polls by roughly 55%, Gallop noted. Support for impeachment and removal is now down below 50% among independents, the poll found.

Update: Trump Hits 45 Percent Approval in Gallup Poll Ahead of Impeachment Vote, Higher Than Obama at This Point (Mediaite).

WNU Editor: This is my take on what is happening now:

1) Contrary to media reports. The Republicans are very united. More than I have seen in decades.
2) The Progressive Democrats are excited and they are also united. As for the rest of the Democrat Party I sense a different mood. There will be some dissenters, and I expect a small handful will either abstain or vote against impeachment.
3) Unless there is a major war or major economic crisis, impeachment will be the number one issue in November when Americans go to the polls.
4) The Republicans will regain the House with a solid majority, and will retain their majority in the Senate even though many Republican senators are running this November.
5) President Trump will be re-elected in November.

McCartney was on Rush Limnbaugh. Of course he is going to try to look good. But he seems to know what he is doing and he will get that majority.

He said Bloomberg spent 100+ million last election cycle for Democrats.

He pointed out Maine's multi-vote system.

He said Democrats gerrymandered 3 new districts in Pennsylvania. Well, the Republicans already got one of those back. It is interesting that a congressman change from the majority party to the minority party. That almost never happens. It should be a wake up call.

I hope the Democrats run on impeachment. There is video of them calling for impeachment 3 years ago. So the whole Ukraine controversy is just shit they stirred up. They needed an excuse. They gambled that Trump would invoke executive privilege. He didn't. They lost and then doubled down.

So election looks good. The omnibus bill looks like shit. Smart money is that Trump will sign it. He should veto it. If his veto gets overridden, he'll still look good and will have done the right thing.

It is point ed out that Congress in general always pulls this shit. And it is shit! they have all year to pass a budget. They don't The y do continuing resolutions. Then in the last 2 weeks before Christmas, when people are distracted, they pass an omnibus with all the bells and whistles.

So much time and energy is going to impeachment it is hard to cut through the noise and demand a better budget. And that is one of the secondary 'wins' for impeachment for Democrats, RINOs and the Swamp.

Trump needs to veto it.

Addressing the trade imbalance alone will not fix America. The budget needs to be fixed too.

All true, and I agree with WNU's 5 points. But, Trump won't veto the bill, can't, too important.
