WNU Editor: From PBS .... Pam Bondi, the former attorney general of Florida who is a member of the Trump impeachment legal team, outlined on Jan. 27 the concerns she said the president had about potential corruption on the part of the Bidens in Ukraine. Bondi pointed to numerous news reports raising questions about Hunter Biden’s appointment to the board of Ukrainian energy company Burisma. The move “looks nepotistic at best, nefarious at worst,” Bondi said, speaking on the Senate floor during the impeachment trial.
I have been watching on and off the impeachment Senate trial. Pam Bondi gave, from what I have seen so far, the best presentation for the defense.

a rather sad defense when the issue remains: holding back funding for the military to require a foreign govt to investigate a political rival of an
American president. No amount of corruption can mitigate such behavior.
GOP concedes Trump may have withheld aid for probes but says it's not impeachable
Even if all of the allegations regarding Trump are 100% true, there's no crime. In fact, it would've been a crime for Trump not to try and get the Ukrainians to investigate this. As the scene of the actual crime is Ukraine, the Ukrainian government would be in the best position to investigate this.
When the US inserted itself into Ukraine on behalf of tge corrupt chump coup plotters, I called it the worst foreign policy decision ever made by a major world power. At the time, I dismissed it as an ideologically based stupid decision. Unfortunately it may have been much worse than that. It appears to me American interests and by extension the American people were sold out!!
Inserting ourselves into Ukraine on behalf of the corrupt coup plotters exacerbated Cold War 2. This is a war we don't need, can't readily afford, may not be able to win, and even if we "win" we gain nothing of value. Such actions completely contradict our interests.
Obviously the coup plotters were going to need muscle in their power struggle with Russia. Very shortly after the coup Hunter Biden is given a 50K per month job with a major Ukrainian oil company even though he has no experience in the industry and no appreciable knowledge of Ukrainian language or culture. I'm sure the Ukrainian chumps whispered something about "democracy" or some other ridiculous nonsense into the ears of American leadership. Essentially ideology and greed come together to sell out America and it's interests. Some reports indicate a Romney associate has a similar job to the one Hunter Biden had. How many others are there?
Esau sold his birthright for some stew when he was starving. Hunter Biden sold out his country for 50K per month. I wonder how much it cost to get the Romney associate to sell out his country.
Essentially it's vitally important to know how and why we were sold out and/or why we pursued such a misguided policy regarding Ukraine. The Bidens are front and center in this. As such, they absolutely should investigated and it would be a dereliction of duty for POTUS not to use any and all leverage America may have up to and including the withholding of military aid to get them to pursue this investigation.
Ukraine has been hurt even worse than America has in this. They've lost Crimea over this. It's absolutely in their best interests to investigate this as well. In fact, I don't think they can heal until they do. If POTUS pushed them to pursue this oath, he'd be showing great friendship to Ukraine.
If assistance in Trump's campaign is somehow tied to the aid, there's no problem here as Trump and Putin are generally reported to individually have cordial relations. As Zelenski was elected in large part to end the war with Russia, it's in his and his team's best interests to have an American leader the Russian leadership respects as opposed to a Democrat leader they don't respect but hold in utter contempt. As such, he shouldn't need a threat from Trump to get him to act in his own best interests. If he did require such coercion, Trump is fully justified in using any and all personal leverage he may have to get the Ukrainian government to investigate the Bidens.
Essentially POTUS would be expected to use any and all leverage America may have as well as any leverage he may personally have to get the Ukrainians to investigate the Bidens. To not do so would be a dereliction of duty on the part of POTUS. In this instance, American and Ukrainian interests mesh. It'd be incomplete and inconsistent with a proper investigation not to enlist the help ofvthe Ukrainians.
Even if all "allegations" against Trump are true, there's no crime. In fact, the crime would've been to do otherwise.
The current Ukrainian government appears to be making sound progress on ending the war with Russia and eliminating the systemic corruption that has been endemic of that country for a very long time. As such, I'm cautiously optimistic that they'll investigate the Bidens with or without us. Unfortunately unscrupulous elements will try and undermine this. As such, it would be extremely helpful if we could work together on this.
