The Hill: GOP senators believe they have the votes to block witnesses

It was clear to Senate Republicans on Wednesday after a morning meeting between Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) that the question of having additional witnesses is settled, and the Senate will vote Friday to wrap up the impeachment trial of President Trump.

There was no discussion of witnesses at a Senate GOP lunch meeting Wednesday, which was held a couple hours after McConnell and Murkowski met for about 20 to 30 minutes.

That was seen as a sign by several senators that Democrats will fail to convince four Republicans to join them in calling for witnesses. Without a vote to hear from witnesses, the trial could end as soon as Friday.

“We’re going to get it done by Friday, hopefully,” Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) said following the meeting.

Update: Is It Over? GOP Reportedly Has Votes To Block Witnesses In Early End To Impeachment (Zero Hedge).

WNU Editor: It looks like Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell used his position to squeeze a reluctant Republican Senator or two to block a call for witnesses. We will know if he was successful by tomorrow, but if I was a betting man, I would not bet against the Senate Majority Leader.

by all means block witnesses because that might stop a show of guilt...did nothing wrong? witnesses would prove that.
Trump lawyer: the president can do anything he wants if he believes it is in the public interest. This week honors the freeing of Auschwitz, done, we have learned by leaders "in the public interest."

The House managers have already called and questioned 17 witnesses. In the basement of the House Chamber. The Dems have no case. They've not filed a single actual crime against Trump in the Articles. They blew it.

We now a sure bipartisan vote to acquit - and very likely a bipartisan vote to deny witnesses. Game over.

The next step is to assign a special prosecutor(s) to investigate Schiff, Nadler and the rest of the so-called House Managers for the lies and misconduct on their part throughout this fake rabbit-hole expedition.

The time to call witnesses was in November and December in the House chamber. They punted. But witless Dim-o-crats did deny Trump witnesses.

But the Fucker-crats lie and day they did not have time, because time was of the essence.

We know this is a lie, because the lie-berals sat on the impeachment for 32 days.

Cool! The Ayatollahs put a price on Trump's head.

TURNABOUT IS FAIR PLAY!

However the Ayatollahs are going to have to wait their turn. Democrats have already lined up new court cases to get Trump. It is an election year after all and Quid Pro Joe is having a tough time. Half the time he does not know what state he is in nor what country he is talking about.

All I can say about the new case or rewarmed case is chain of custody and deterioration will have to be forged.
