WNU Editor: Here are some of my impressions on President Trump's State of the Union address (Read the full text of Donald Trump's 2020 State of the Union as he makes his case for re-election)
From the beginning to the end the speech touched all emotions. The speech was also partisan, delivered in a very partisan chamber. No surprises there. This year is an election year
To begin. The President chose his wedge issues well, focusing on Democrat positions when it comes to immigration, free health care for illegals, abolishing private insurance, and late term abortions. President Trump's focus on the black community in his speech was also well done and effective. It is clear that he wants their vote, and he is making the effort to gain it. A few weeks after the 2016 election, Steve Bannon discussed in an interview on how just gaining 20% of the black vote in 2020 will insure an easy second term for President Trump. I think that strategy is at play right now, and my gut is telling me that it is working.
President Trump's focus on the economy was not a surprise. This is what is going to get him re-elected later this year, and he knows it. He also has the numbers to make the case
Rush Limbaugh getting the Medal of Freedom during the State of the Union was an incredible sight. But the moving reaction from Kayla Mueller's parents, and the reunion of Amy and Townsend Williams .... you cannot helped but be moved on the sacrifices that these people have made, and who are still making it.
No mention of impeachment. President Trump did not want to dignify it, unlike many in the main stream media who were sure that he was going to mention it.
The animosity between President Trump and House Speaker Pelosi was obvious right from the start. President Trump kept it inside, even though some are saying that he avoided shaking the Speaker's hand at the beginning. But when I look at the video (after the 2 minute mark of this video), I do not think he had noticed that she had put her hand out. Not surprising, the Speaker is pushing her side of the hand-shake story (see her tweet here). But House Speaker Pelosi ripping up the speech behind President Trump's back when he was finished was deliberate and IMHO probably planned. Make no mistake about it. That is someone who has an enormous amount of hatred towards the President, and she wants the world to know it.

Animosity totally clear at the outset. Pelosi didn't introduce President Trump properly at the beginning - Trump did not shake Pelosi's hand. Pelosi sat there, grinding her dentures for the entire affair then rips up the SOTU copy with petulant rage.
The entire Democrat gallery slouched, murmured and eye-rolled throughout. At one point bursting to some chant that I couldn't decipher.
President Trump delivered a powerful speech. Made his points strongly and with dignity. The Democrats looked (and behaved) like children.
It must be hard for the Dems. Having to sit there and listen to the factual list of accomplishments under the Trump Admin. Seeing Trump's approval ratings surge throughout the impeachment*. Economy roaring and wages increasing. Not to mention the Democrat-made Iowa disaster that was their first try at an actual vote.
The Dems acted like the sour grapes losers that they are.
Now they'll be treated to Trump's bipartisan acquittal by the Senate - and what will likely be a SCORCHING speech by Trump tomorrow.

I will bet Leftwing websites will say she was justified, because he did not shake hand at the beginning of the evening.
But what came first? Her famous clap last SOTU was terrible. It will not soon be forgotten.

My take on Pelosi's clap is that it will be remembered at least as long as lines from Casablanca has been so for.
If the New Hampshire primary is like Iowas as to vote count, the Democrat Party is gone anyway. Nothing but a bunch of nutters.
Amusing how she once said and emphasised she did not hate Trump, ha!
As for the speech itself, well, it was typical Trump. Bit of a boring meandering policy speech, little humour (none at all) and came off more like your typical run of the mill election speech.
It won't go down in history as a great union speech, only thing this will be known for is what that foul woman did behind Trump.
I thought it a good, but long speech. While I don’t like the human props in the gallery in any SotU, I have to say they were effectively chosen and incorporated into the presentation this year. The distance between the democrats and appreciation for the great things happening to their core constituents is huge and off putting. I’ll admit that I don’t think actions of any president can have that big an impact on the economy, but he has done things to stoke the engine. I’d give the speech a solid B+.

Yes Fred (8:24 AM), Donald Trump did indeed snub Princess Pelosi by not shaking her hand. After xer's fake clap last SOTU and the shampeachment, 90% to 95% of people would.

Miss Nancy's clap will not be something soon forgotten. If you had been subjected to that in high school, you would remember it long after you saw black balloons.

Rush Limbaugh’s Most Racist Quotes A Timeline Of Destructive Commentary
Limbaugh Says Kennedy “Had Negroes Serve Him Booze”
"A few years ago, this guy would have been getting us coffee," Bill Clinton
I know you are a sorry excuse for an English major, but what does few mean?
"Couple is used when referring to two things, as in "a couple of days ago," whereas few and several are less specific. Few means "not many but some," as in "The train leaves in a few minutes," and several denotes more than the words couple and few do but implies lesser than the word many does."
www.merriam-webster.com/words-at-play/couple-few-several-use
If Bill Clinton said this in the 1970s he is in the clear, but he said this in 2008. By 2008 more than a generation (~ 33 years) had passed.
Bill Clinton is racist and anti-Semitic. That he felt comfortable saying this to another Democrat in 2008 say a lot about the Democrat Party.
Here is what Rushg said
"Now, if you recall in the South Carolina primary in 2008, Clinton is talking to Ted Kennedy and they’re talking about Obama. And Clinton said to Ted Kennedy, (Clinton impression) “You know, Teddy, not too long ago, just a few short years ago, this guy, Obama, would be serving us coffee. This guy would be bringing us our cocktail, Teddy.” And, of course, a minor furor errupted, and they accused Clinton of being racist, and Clinton got mad that they’re throwing the race card down on him, because he thought they had thrown the race card at him first. ‘Cause Jesse Jackson went out there and said something about South Carolina, of course, don’t have any choice, no way we’re gonna win South Carolina. And made some connection with Clinton going there to rally white votes in South Carolina. Clinton thought they were playing the race card, so he told Ted Kennedy, (Clinton impression) “Who is this guy? Just a few short years ago this guy would be serving us our scotch, Teddy.” Or what have you. So here’s Rickles, “The president’s a friend of mine. Came over to the house yesterday but the mop broke.” Anyway, the joke has been pulled from the telecast. I just wanted to pass that on."

You can look up any Rush quote at RushLimbaugh.com It is free.
But squirrel just laps up whatever barf Democrat journals spew.
You know Bo Snerdly is black. He's known Rush for over 30 years. There was nepotism as far as I know. Bo's son needed a job and he got one where his father worked. Then he punched his ticket (the experience block) and got a job somewhere else. Bo Snerdly also left the EIB network and became a talk show host. It did not work out and he came back. Rush did not have to take him. All that tells me Rush is not racist.
In the early days Lamoine and Snerdly were not exactly friendly. It was NYC and Rush was conservative. After years of being genuine, Rush won people over.
You might consider doing your own research and getting on 1st base.
