More tests equal more results. Everyone knew the increase in tests - which everyone was screaming for - would reveal a higher number of infections. Nearing 20,000 just now.
The good news is that the fatality rate is ticking down. Last week 2.2%. Today: 1.3%. More people are testing positive, but more are surviving.
A test for Chinese coronavirus is not meant to be an emotional salve. The tests are meant for people with actual symptoms, not the fretting masses Also Washington state, where the first and most deaths occurred, the curve is beginning to flatten.

Is no one willing to play with the idea that china started this in their own country because they alresdy had a vaccine? Really no simpler way to avoid war-crime blame for spreading a pandemic world wide than to be the first "victim". Now they have no new cases in days. Either a coverup of the real numbers or they are treated those who are sick quietly. Just a theory but totally plausible. Destroys economies worldwide while they are projected to grow by just the second quarter according to economists.
