Characteristics of 2009 H1N1 Influenza April 15, 2009 to April 10, 2010 (CDC)
WNU editor: The best way to answer this question is to compare it to the Swine Flu pandemic of 2009 - 2010. From VeryWellHealth ....
H1N1 was first detected in April 2009 in a 10-year-old girl in California. It was declared a global pandemic in June 2009 by the World Health Organization (WHO) and was finally over in August 2010.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that swine flu infected nearly 61 million people in the United States and caused 12,469 deaths. Worldwide, up to 575,400 people died from pandemic swine flu.
Was the news coverage of the 2009 - 2010 pandemic the same as today's. Definitely not. Was it as politicized as it is today. Definitely not. In fact when you compare the White House reaction to the Swine Flu Pandemic to the current White House's reaction, the White House in 2009 only responded when 1,000 Americans were dead and millions were infected. So why the panic now?
The answer to this question is the Covid-19 Pandemic is (by the looks of it) more deadlier than Swine Flu. The 2009-2010 H1N1 pandemic percentage death rate was 0.02% (see here). The Covid-19 death rate is anywhere from one to three percent. It is also highly infectious, which makes it even more troubling.
Am I panicking? No. My priority is to make sure that my immune system is as strong as it can be. If it was not for taking care of my mother (who is 93 soon to be 94), I would be living my life as I am now (with a few precautions). I also know that this crisis will pass by this summer.
On a side note. I contracted the H1N1/Swine Flu in December 2009, and was super sick for two months. On the fourth or fifth day I had actually given up the will to live, an experience that I will never want to go through again. It was only in May/June that I fully recovered. I know too well on how dangerous these type of diseases can be.

did they have shot for virus back then? now: a year off
No solid evidence it will end with warm weather. none thus far
They can trace corona flu clear back to 4,000 BC.
There are only so many combination of corona flu. Mankind has already seen each particular combination several time over the last 6,000 years.
The number of corona flu variations is countably finite. Sorry, I used the term countably finite. I was talking over the heads of liberal humanities majors for sure.
Mr WNU’s, that must have been a terrifying situation when you have up on everything. Just terrifying...
" I was talking over the heads of liberal humanities majors for sure."
a sure sign of very poor emotional skills and insecurity
I have a friend who is a liberal arts M.A. and then became a skilled surgeon. He would smirk at so dumb a statement as our anon makes non-stop, never aware that his repetitious behavior reveals him for what he is
Another article FULL OF BS
"The Covid-19 death rate is anywhere from one to three percent."
I am sorry, but we do not know this. Most likely this guy is wrong, here is why (feels like I am repeating myself):
The way these calculations are made is completely wrong, example
3,000 deaths in 100,000 reported cases DOES NOT MEAN 3% death rate (yet you see this ALL over the news). It is false. FALSE!
Here is why: In all likelihood the COVID-19 virus shows a wide range of severity (no reaction in young almost, very very mild symptoms in teens, almost no deaths in young adults.. complications when you get older.. ie the whole spectrum).. this means that you may have had the virus already (depending on where you live) and you didn't even notice it. Didn't test for it (we don't even have perfect tests yet, no test kits and on and on)..
In all likelihood the death rate will be adjusted downwards and heavily so, i.e. not 3,000 deaths in 100,000, but perhaps 3,000 deaths in 1million or 10million for all we know.. that makes a seemingly killer virus (where are all the bodies if it were 3%?) become something like a common cold
The REAL DAMAGE is done by our own media (sounds familiar?) after panicking through foreign influence (sounds familiar?)
Last time it as a hysteria towards Russians, propagated mostly by US media.
This time it is a hysteria towards a Chinese virus, in response to Chinese mass media, social media, governmental video being PUSHED around the globe.. we saw everthing from emptied to militarised streets, people being put in cars etc etc.. THIS media onslaught caused the panic. THESE IDIOTS who calculated the death rate wrong caused the panic... all THIS is causing TRILLIONS in economic damage
People will then write books and pat themselves on the back "I am so glad I sounded the alarm over at CNN", NO. NO! You are the same idiot who caused panic about a Russian election interference and you are the same guy that hurts your own country and the global economy (and population, becasue you put the elderly at risk when all of society panics and takes up hospital beds)
You utter morons in the media.
The only person in the US that showed calm was your president. But you in the media (CNN, MSNBC) etc HATE him so you jump on any opportunity, including a PANDEMIC to score political points, not understanding the damages you cause.
The unchecked, hysteric, stupd media truly is our enemy
Just look no further to the recent math error by two journalist at CNN.. it went world wide.. and then the lady went back and called it racist?? WHAT?? THere was a white journalist and black journalist, why is it racist? both were STUPID. Has nothing to do with skin color, so don't change the subject and cause even more division. You stupid media push chaos, racism, gender division and now panic. This should not be legal. There should be consequences. At least lose your job like we all would if we would perform at such despicable levels as you do and gloat about it. Sickening.
Relax, I’m looking for a great BUY opportunity once calm wins over chaos :)
