Countries across Europe were placed into lockdown yesterday in a desperate attempt to stem the soaring tally of coronavirus cases after the Continent became the new 'epicentre' of the global pandemic.
France last night took the decision to close all non-essential public locations.
Restaurants, shops, cinemas and cafes have shut for the foreseeable future as French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe branded the virus the 'biggest health crisis in a century'.
In Spain, the government declared a state of emergency as the death toll there rose by 120 and the number of confirmed cases leapt from 1,500 to more than 5,700 in 24 hours.
Meanwhile, Poland shut down all its airports - forcing thousands of stranded British tourists to head out of the country by car.
Borders were also closed to foreign visitors in Denmark, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Hungary, Russia and Ukraine.

Borders are good. Borders work. Borders are what create and define nationhood. Europe is well advised to use them.
The positive unintended consequences of this outbreak are beginning to pronounce themselves.

With everyone working from home in the West - from USA to Germany - a lot of IP is at risk now, as you can imagine the networks at home are way less protected. Thoughts on the opportunity for North Korea, Russia, Iran and China? I am sure they will not hesitate to use this opportunity
So the EU is restricting travel and the asinine, NYT reading robots among us were bellyaching that it was a bad move by Trump. May those whiners eat COVID19.
