Just to understand the death rate in older patients:

It is not necessarily directly because of the virus.

In Milan for example (as well as in other hospitals around the World) doctors have to make life and death decisions as beds and respirators are running short IF and WHEN the infection rate spikes (you want to keep the curve down so that hospitals can cope).. many of the elderly just couldn't be kept long enough on the respirators perhaps, and therefore doctors had to move on to younger patients with better survival chances.

What does this mean?

1. ALWAYS first call your doctor/hospital and describe your symptoms -- DO NOT just go to your hospital, you will risk crowding the staff, rendering them incapable to help those most in need (the elderly)

2. SOCIAL DISTANCING -- not just for you, but also for the elderly and immuno-compromised. Another reason you should not travel or go to the hospital unless they told you to come

3. If you have children, don't let the grand parents take care of them. Only ~ 1% of children show symptoms (great!) but they still can be carriers

4. If you have masks, especially the good ones (N95), give them to the elderly. Share them with neigbhours, homeless etc
