Acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly offered his resignation Tuesday as lawmakers pressured President Donald Trump to take action in the wake of Modly's profanity-laced tirade to the crew of the USS Theodore Roosevelt.
Modly submitted his resignation letter to Defense Secretary Mark Esper on Tuesday after meeting with his him one-on-one, Politico reported. Neither Esper nor the White House pressured Modly to resign, an official told the website, and it is unclear whether Esper will accept it.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Tuesday that Modly should resign or be removed from office.

WNU Editor: This could have been handled in multiple different ways. Now it looks like the US Navy will be needing a new Acting Navy Secretary.

cting Secretary of the Navy Thomas Modly resigned Tuesday after traveling nearly 8,000 miles to Guam to berate thousands of sailors on Monday, later saying he stood "by every word," and then subsequently apologizing for the remarks within the span of about eight hours.
Modly submitted his resignation a day after audio of his speech on the carrier was published by Task & Purpose. James McPherson, Undersecretary of the Army, will reportedly be tapped to replace Modly, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Modly, who came into the job after his predecessor was forced out for going against President Trump during the Eddie Gallagher affair, faced intense pressure to resign over his handling of the situation on the USS Theodore Roosevelt, a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier which quickly went from having three COVID-19 cases to hundreds among a crew of nearly 5,000 sailors after a port visit to Vietnam in early March.
Modly spoke over the ship's intercom for roughly 15 minutes on Monday, chastising sailors who enthusiastically cheered for their captain, Capt. Brett Crozier, as he departed the ship. In his remarks, Modly said Crozier was either "too naive or too stupid to be a commanding officer" of their ship since a letter he wrote to Navy leadership subsequently leaked to the press.

Having trouble with the copying and pasting squirrel?
Prediction Crozier is flying a desk now and will be working on his retirement papers.
Modlin was right to lay into Crozier after the crew made him into a saint. You do not announce to Russia and China that you are sidelining a major component of the nuclear triad and an asset whose mission is to project force and keep the sea lanes of communication (SLOC)open for the flu.
The average age of a sailor on an aircraft carrier is 24. The symptoms of a 24 year with corona are mild.
Crozier wrote his sob letter in such a way that he knew or should have known it would be leaked in that sieve known as the Swamp.
Post retirement why would a naval shipyard or someone else hire Crozier. As soon the critical path has a snag will he yell "Eject, Eject Eject" and punch out after giving a salacious story to a muckraker about the programs problems? Defense programs depending what stage they are deal with blessing edge tech, which means there may be cost overruns or schedule slip.
Where muckrakers and congress critters want to make their bones about such things would you hire Crozier?
Average age of carrier sailor: 24
Corona symptoms for 24 y/o: mild on average
Casualties: 0
Sick call: a few hundred?
Course of Action: Take carrier out of service for a port call.
Am I missing something here?
Is that all you've got squirrel? You have gotten old.

Like her new boss, incoming White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany has a history of downplaying the coronavirus.
McEnany, the current national press secretary for President Donald Trump's reelection campaign, will soon step into a new role as the White House's chief spokeswoman. A familiar face for cable news viewers, McEnany's commentary on the global pandemic has lagged behind the warnings of public health experts but been in lockstep with Trump's rhetoric.
“This president will always put America first. He will always protect American citizens. We will not see diseases like the coronavirus come here. We will not see terrorism come here. And isn’t that refreshing when contrasting it with the awful presidency of President Obama?” McEnany said on Fox News in late February.
That clip resurfaced last weekend when a CNN reporter posted it to Twitter. McEnany called the reporter's post "ridiculous spin" and claimed that her remarks had been in reference to Trump's decision to ban non-U.S. citizens from entering the country from parts of China. She insisted her comment had been backed up by Dr. Anthony Fauci, the head National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
“When I said this, @realDonaldTrump had already taken early action: assembled task force & issued travel restrictions," she wrote on Twitter.
Trump has long pointed to his travel ban from China as step that he claims saved countless lives in the U.S. Nonetheless, his administration's coronavirus response has been widely criticized as slow-footed in ramping up testing and facilitating the distribution of badly needed supplies to hot spots like New York and California. More than 10,000 Americans have died from complications related to the virus, and the U.S. has well over 300,000 confirmed cases.
McEnany also defended the president's reluctance to cancel his campaign rallies, despite health officials' growing concerns about large public gatherings, in a TV appearance early last month.
"We have the added advantage here at the Trump campaign that our candidate happens to be the president of the United States, who is surrounded by the best and most talented health experts in the world," she told Fox Business host Stuart Varney.
Like I said squirrel, is that all you've got?
Bottom line--military needs not to be involved in leaking to the media. If you are caught, there will be consequences. If there are still spineless Democrat pussy-Obama worshipers in the military, find them and throw them the fuck out. Those are the fucking leakers. We don't need pussy Obama worshiping officers in the US military. I am a USN Veteran and proud of it, but the military took a hit under that fucking asswipe Obama--time to get rid of any remaining maggots.
I don't know how Washington could look more out of touch to the men and women of the armed forces and their families than the way they handled this situation.
6:19,
Really?
How many of those sick people (They are not sailors.) grabbed a beer as soon as they hit port in Guam?
