Iran Wants A $5bn Loan From The IMF

Hassan Rouhani said international public opinion would not tolerate discrimination against Iran

BBC: Coronavirus: Iran appeals for $5bn IMF loan as deaths pass 4,000

Iran has urged the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to approve a $5bn (£4bn) emergency loan to help fight the coronavirus, as its death toll passed 4,000.

"a slush fund of confiscated property"

Now that would be an interesting thing for a sociologist, psychologist or psycho-historian to study. How much and how often can you confiscate property and imprison your fellow countrymen and still have a functioning economy and country? If people are really scared, they shift it more often to neutral and clap a lot when expected. They do not try to risk anything or sound a discordant chord in the echo chamber.

How bad does factionalism get and how much does it hold a country back?

Solemenei died and a few dozen of his followers were arrested and presumably had property confiscated. How many people in the IRGC putting it into neutral?

I hope that we are not so stupid to grant this...
