SCMP: How would mainland China attack Taiwan? A video outlines one scenario

* Mainland military magazine posts online simulation of air and land assault on the island
* Sabre-rattling contrasts with calls in recent weeks for restraint

An influential mainland Chinese military magazine has released a video outlining a potential attack on Taiwan’s defence systems.

The 11-minute video, produced by the Naval and Merchant Ships monthly magazine, was on released on Wednesday as the island’s president, Tsai Ing-wen, officially began her second term in office, vowing to never accept Beijing’s “one country, two systems” proposal for cross-strait unification.

I wonder what the response of the population of the mainland would be to an invasion? Especially one that was much more costly than expected.

If China take over Taiwan, it will be the same as Hitler take over Poland and it will be the beginning of a broader war.

Taiwan is much better prepared than Poland was, its no sure thing for China.

Lol fazman I like your optimism. ...there are more than ten thousand spies and operatives in Taiwan right now, ready to sabotage. On top Taiwan is not a united population. 20% or so want to be with China. This is not our fight. The Taiwanese people must make a case that they want to stay free but they are terrible at doing so. Sure sure I know they are being muzzled by China but have you ever met someone from Taiwan? They are more obsessed with cosmetic operations and luxury goods than staying free. This is not a culture I can identify with nor want to die for. THEY have to make a case in front of the World. But they haven't. Decades of squandered opportunities. No alliances formed. They know what's coming and they still are incapable of communicating their goals. Call it failure of leadership but that island is not able to defend itself for longer than a month once their oil supply is cut off, which is the first thing China will do. The 2-3 main ports will be disabled in the first few hours of any attack. This is goliath vs david but David is busy doing his/her fingernails in this case.
