Has The Lockdown Changed You For The Better?

Study Finds: Silver Lining: 2 In 5 Adults Have ‘Changed For The Better’ Thanks To Lockdown

LONDON — Many people have been using their extra time during the coronavirus lockdown wisely and have adopted new habits to keep themselves busy. In fact, a recent survey of 2,000 British adults reveals that 43% of people feel they’ve “changed their ways for the better” as a result of all the time inside these past few months.

Researchers sought to learn how habits and daily lives have changed as a result of the lockdown. Nearly half of those surveyed expect to keep up these new hobbies, skills, and daily habits they’ve taken on after the lockdown restrictions are lifted. Learning new computer skills, creating podcasts, participating in online fitness classes and going for long walks are some of the new activities people have turned to as a new means to occupy their time.

WNU Editor: Speaking for myself .... the lock-down has changed me for the better. I sleep better, and I deliberately sleep longer to help my immune system stay on top. Vitamins, supplements, eating well, exercise .... that is now the rule, not the exception. Gotten closer to all of my family in Russia, Ukraine, and my brother in California. That has been a big plus. And as for the GF. We have not been together since March (I am in Montreal, she is in Kingston), but our relationship has only gotten stronger. (Thank you Facebook messenger Facetime). And as for all of you who follow this blog. I hope the same can be said that everything has changed for the better.

Know the feeling.
Today was my fist day back in the office after two months 'self-isolating' with the family at our holiday home (I live in New Zealand).
The biggest shock: the pollution in the city. Followed by the noise.
Besides all that, over that time I've become much closer to my wife/kids (trying to work and teach kids was incredibly difficult), but the outdoor life, fresh air, exercise and better eating has been remarkable.
My big watch-out: As much as people say they are going to change, a vast majority want normality, and that means doing the exact same as what they were doing pre-CV19.
I've seen evidence of this even tonight: the amount of fast food being eaten, booze being bought and everyone's willingness to jump in a car. And that was just during evening rush hour.
As I've always said: Everything's going to change, but nothing's going to change.
