“We’ve never seen anything like it, at all,” Max Kapustin, the senior research director at the University of Chicago Crime Lab told the Chicago Sun-Times in a new shocking report published Monday. “I don’t even know how to put it into context. It’s beyond anything that we’ve ever seen before.”
The group of University of Chicago researchers have confirmed numbers from Sunday, May 31, which the Crime Lab now says is the single most violent day on historical record: 18 dead and 85 wounded by gunfire. The record was previously at 13 people murdered on a single day on Aug. 4, 1991.
"From 7 p.m. Friday, May 29, through 11 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 25 people were killed in the city, with another 85 wounded by gunfire, according to data maintained by the Chicago Sun-Times."

Where I live, they marched for victims of police brutality. They specifically named a bank robber, who fled to his home, came out after 7 hours with a gun in hand. That is who they are marching for.

It was a slow start this year, but gangs are making up for lost time.
The areas where the shootings happened are nice. They are spacious, outside and in. People have elbow room. No one is starving. Libraries are free. There are grants for college or tech school.
The lower rungs of Maslow's Hierarchy of needs are met. There is absolutely no reason for the shootings or the hit and runs.

Is it time to implement the Insurrection Act in Chicago? If not "now" I'd say we've got to be getting close. This appears to be disorganized violence as opposed to the organized kkbd seen in DC and NYC. So the approach may need to be different.
