Kyle Mizokami, National Interest: Forget Russia, Pakistan's Tactical Nuclear Weapons Are A Real Threat
A dangerous environment.
Here's What You Need To Remember: Pakistan’s nuclear weapons, particularly tactical nuclear weapons, are seen as an asymmetric means of offsetting India’s advantage in conventional forces. Even if a Pakistani Army offensive into India fails and the Strike Corps counterattacked, tactical nuclear weapons could blunt their spearheads, ideally halting them in their tracks.

An ally of the United States and China and archenemy of India, Pakistan has developed a nuclear arsenal to suit its own particular needs. Unusually among the smaller powers, Islamabad has developed an arsenal of tactical nuclear weapons designed to destroy enemy forces on the battlefield.

I was able to ask the Pakistani ambassador to the UK some questions during a talk he gave back in 2018. On the topic of nuclear proliferation he explained to me how quickly Pakistan is being outclassed both in conventional weapons as well as nuclear weapons, most recently with Indian advancements in missile defense as well as submarine launched nuclear weapons. Compare the economic, population, and industrial bases (not to mention the difficulty of defending Pakistan's major cities vs those of India), his opinion was that Pakistan has no choice but to practice "full-spectrum" deterrence, which to everyone there clearly meant support for non-state actors conducting terror attacks. Additionally, he explained that Pakistan does and will continue to lean even more heavily on its nuclear deterrent as their conventional capabilities fall increasingly behind.
Thanks Alex, now I don't have to read the article. My question answered perfectly.
What a waste of a country's citizens' endeavors and a better life; nuclear missiles.
