ISTANBUL (Reuters) - Turkish warplanes struck Kurdish militant targets in northern Iraq on Sunday night, a security source told Reuters, and Turkey’s Defence Ministry confirmed that it had launched an operation with its jets.
“The Claw-Eagle Operation has started. Our planes are bringing the caves down on the terrorists’ heads,” the ministry said on Twitter, without providing further information.
Turkey regularly targets Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) militants, both in Turkey’s mainly Kurdish southeast and in northern Iraq, where the group is based.

It is truly embarrassing how the U.S. Turned their backs on the Kurds.
Under Obama in 2011, when the US military left Iraq some units swung south through Jordan and stopped along the Syrian border and then did nothing.
After the protest morphed into a rebellion Obama sent non lethal aid or so we were told. Under the cover of darkness the CIA was sopping up manpads in Libya destroying some (honestly and.or for show) and shipping others to Syria. Obama sent very little to Syria publicly and covertly (it seems).
Obama was going to let ISIS beat down the Kurds, head stomp them and then ass rape them. The only reason Obama assisted the Kurds at Kobane was of poll numbers. Press coverage ginned up sympathy (deservedly so in this case) for the Kurds and Obama was forced to act, especially in an election year.
Overall, the American political establishment has never been serious about helping the Kurds.
The US had 500 soldiers in Syria, which went up to 1,500. The Russian rotated 63,000 soldiers through Syria. The Iranian army and militias have 200,000 men.
It is as obvious as fuck that the America political establishment is not interested in Syria. But many of these whines and bitches are complaining that Trump wants to pull out. When an American soldier dies it will be added to Trump's bill not theirs. So they have all the activism and heart, but no responsibility.
Fuck these Democrats, RINOS and arm chair generals.
To go to war you need a consensus of between 51% to 99% and most times 51% is not enough.
What is the consensus for staying in Syria? How long are Americans prepare to stay? How much blood and treasure are we willing to spend?
How much time and political capital have politician on both sides of the aisle prepared to spend.
A Democrat politician will spend more time and effort beating up grandma in her car on a city street at high noon than on the Kurds.
