Al Jazeera: Iraq armed groups expert Hisham al-Hashemi shot dead in Baghdad
Al-Hashemi was attacked by unknown gunmen near his home in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
A leading Iraqi expert on ISIL (ISIS) and other armed groups was shot dead in Baghdad on Monday after receiving threats from Iran-backed militias, security and interior officials said.
Hisham al-Hashemi, 47, was shot near his home in the Zeyouneh area of Baghdad and pronounced dead at a hospital, the officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity in line with regulations.
"Yes, he passed away and his body is now in the hospital freezer," said Saad Maan, head of the interior ministry's media relations department.

Man, people are jumpy; about 10 or 15 years ago there were a couple of cases of plague in the western US, if memory serves.
I was mistaken, it’s far more common in the US than I thought.

During the Black death rich and poor people were poor. There is a a breakout of the cost firewood for an English king to take a bath. It wasn't often, because it cost a lot. Poor people obviously were poor. After the Black Death it was a labor market. The poor ate better. They had social mobility. They could tell the rich to fuck off until a 100 years later, when it became crowded again.
Don't call for Zero Population Growth, while telling everyone else to come on down.
