USA Today: Supreme Court gives Native Americans jurisdiction over eastern half of Oklahoma
WASHINGTON – The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that the eastern half of Oklahoma can be considered Native American territory, a decision the state previously warned could create "civil, criminal and regulatory turmoil."
The 5-4 decision was written by Associate Justice Neil Gorsuch and joined by the court's four liberal justices. The justices were considering the issue for the second time after failing to decide a different case last year, when Gorsuch was recused and the court likely deadlocked.
The case concerned an appeal from Jimcy McGirt, a Native American, who claimed his state rape conviction from 1997 should be overturned because Oklahoma lacked jurisdiction. Congress, his lawyer Ian Gershengorn said, never properly terminated the reservation.

WNU Editor: This case revolves around the conviction of a native American who was convicted for sexual assault of a four year old over 20 years ago. His lawyers contested that the state did not have the jurisdiction to try and convict him. Unfortunately, this ruling has now created a massive criminal and regulatory mess in the state of Oklahoma.

If ever there were a logic for eminent domain, this might be it.
It'll be interesting to see if that half of Oklahoma succeeds from the USA & becomes an independent state. Legalise gambling, narcotics, prostitution, turn it into a tourist destination. The native Americans will be billionaires by this time next year! Keep ducking 🤚ðŸ¤
A somewhat interesting book about this area is
"Killers of the Flower Moon" by David Grann (ISBN 978-0-307-74248-3).
* The FBI got involved in looking for the murderers of American Indians.
* How could someone (Ernest Burkhart) try to murder their wife and mother of their children. I don't understand that one.
* America was such a rotten country that oil companies made many, many Indians into millionaires.
* Texas Rangers were called in.
* The airport bookstores are shills for this book.

Nice dodge.
Did the natives strike England before the conquest as the Khanate did Muskovy?
Nice of you to call the Russians "white". Cold comfort for them I am sure.
Does this mean the colonization effort - ongoing since at least 1917, will stop?
Doesn't matter who started it when it comes to conflict. White man is always guilty. Read your hymnal or the Left will cancel you.
Also the Pilgrims found an empty land. In between the Viking and Christopher the Basques had found America. More specifically they found the Grand Banks. They set up fish processing sites on the coasts of America. While not wanting to take land, the Basques inadvertently gave the Indians a plague or two.
Indians attacked the Pilgrims 1st.
