This US Congressman Wants To Ban Current History Classes Because They 'Lead To Racism'

Daily Mail: History classes should be banned in schools because they 'lead to racism', an Illinois lawmaker has said

* Representative LaShawn K. Ford said teaching 'unfairly communicates' history
* Said it overshadows work done by undermined groups including Black people
* Urged state to stop history classes until a better teaching method can be found

History classes 'lead to white privilege and a racist society' and should be stopped in schools, according to an Illinios lawmaker.

Representative LaShawn K. Ford claimed history books and teaching as it stands 'unfairly communicates' the US's past and overshadows the work done by historically undermined groups - including LGBT, Black and Jewish people.

Both Ford - a Democrat - and other community leaders in Evanston, Illinois, are calling on state leaders to stop history lessons until a better teaching method can be found.

WNU Editor: I have a friend in Moscow who is trying to do the opposite of what Representative LaShawn K. Ford wants to do in Illinois. And what my friend is trying to do is restore the history that was purged by the Communists because they believed it did not reflect what they felt was the true history of the Soviet people. Bottom line. When political leaders want to change history, always be wary on what are their true intentions. In the meantime Chicago Takes Down 2 Columbus Statues Overnight.

You linked Mish. I don't always agree with him, but he is one smart guy.

citing a single incident or in this case a single person and calling that a general statement is not very helpful. Anyone can pick among either party to "make a case." You should not bitch about media when what you do is something that is hardly professional grade of giving the news.

LaShawn K. Ford is not the only one. He is just the latest and loudest. If you have not heard of others, you have not been paying attention or are lying. I believe it is a mixture of both. You, yourself, admitted to not paying much attention in a school. You have as much willpower and agency as a message in a bottle cast upon the waves.

What a moron. Not teaching history leads to things like the Holocaust

Teaching the Holocaust is a waste of time. I also found English and History to be a waste of time in high school and college.

Decades ago most high students did not make it to WW2, so they were the mid and latter 1.2 of the 20th century. Now tack on 2 more decades that they will never get to. Somehow the race mongers will get some distorted Africa history taught. But will the spend a lot of time or any time on African princes who got rich of the slave trade and sent their kids to university in Paris?

For 2/3rds of people going to college I do not see a commensurate decline in anti-Semitism. With the Democrat Party teaching anti-Semitism and a few on the 'right', I see whatever the schools teaching as being swamped by that message.

Maybe we should taker history out electives in college. I'm of the opinion we should take sports out of college. We should have sports leagues like Germany. Likewise, maybe we could teach history outside of college.

I have seen the Holocaust taught in English classes, which I think is just wrong. It strikes me as more of a teacher having an agenda outside of the purported field of study. I think most of the students dump it, when they walk out of the classroom.

I think college needs to be 3 years long and cheaper per year. You need to get people into the work force faster with less debt or no debt. Then outside of follow on degrees rope them into history classes out of their desire to climb Maslow's hierarchy of needs after they have their financial path laid out at 21.

If they are out of college sooner, out of debt sooner, maybe they will cast around for something to do (outside of work or their main work) sooner.
