Navy Times: Navy releases documents from 1963 USS Thresher sinking, deadliest submarine disaster in US history

PORTLAND, Maine — The Navy began releasing documents from the investigation into the deadliest submarine disaster in U.S. history on Wednesday, but the Navy said the documents released under a court order don’t shed any new light on the cause of the sinking.

The first of the documents released were 300 pages from the official inquiry into the sinking of the USS Thresher on April 10, 1963.

The loss of the nuclear-powered submarine and all 129 men aboard during a test dive in the Atlantic Ocean delivered a blow to national pride during the Cold War and became the impetus for safety improvements.

I think there should be a special place in Arlington for all the submarine crew. All badasses. Can you imagine? Under water in 1950s, how freaking big are submarines balls? No wonder they sunk lol kidding but yeah nerves of steel. How come we don't see more business leaders who were former sub captains? Or do they all run shadowy organisations when they retire?

The media reacts quickly and with righteous indignation when a black person is shot by police, or by someone white, no matter what the facts of the case are.

But far too often, even in the most heinous of cases, when the perpetrator is black and the victim or victims happen to be white, the headlines and reporting are not anywhere near the same.

Police say the gunman shot four adults and the boy in the living room at a home in the 100 block of Perry St. about 1:55 a.m. Monday.

The 4-year-old child, Rowan Sweeney, died at the scene.

The boy died in his mother’s arms, police said.

What remains sad is how silent the mainstream media has largely been on the story. Imagine if the suspect was white and the four-year-old was black.

Did a web search. 1st 2 pages. No
