A former Mexican defense minister and army chief, Salvador Cienfuegos, has been arrested in the United States on drug trafficking and money laundering charges, authorities confirmed on Thursday.
Cienfuegos, who was defense chief from 2012 until 2018, was reportedly on a trip with his family when he was detained at Los Angeles airport.
