Daily Mail: Covid-19 vaccine breakthrough as Pfizer's jab - which the US bought 100 million doses of - 'prevents 90% of people from catching the disease' 

 * Pfizer Inc said on Monday its experimental COVID-19 vaccine was more than 90% effective 

 * Pfizer and German partner BioNTech SE are the first drugmakers to release successful data from a large-scale clinical trial of a coronavirus vaccine 

 * The companies said they have so far found no serious safety concerns and expect to seek US authorization this month for emergency use of the vaccine 

 * The US paid $1.95 billion for 100 million initial doses of the Pfizer vaccine 

 * Shares in the US drugmaker were up 14 percent in pre-trading on Monday following the announcement 

 * Global markets also rocketed with the Dow futures soaring 1,100 points 

Pfizer says an early peek at its vaccine data suggests the shots may be 90 percent effective at preventing COVID-19 - a major victory in the fight against a pandemic that has killed more than 230,000 Americans. 

Pfizer, which developed the vaccine with the German drugmaker BioNTech, are the first drugmakers to release successful data from a large-scale clinical trial of a coronavirus vaccine. 

The companies said they have so far found no serious safety concerns and expect to seek US authorization this month for emergency use of the vaccine for people aged 16 to 85.

WNU Editor: My brother is involved in producing certain agents necessary for a vaccine and told me the good news early this morning. He did not expect this announcement. He also repeated whet he told me a few months ago that he would only take a vaccine from Merck or Pfizer because they know what they are doing. Bottom line. Pfizer is the first one to announce success from a third phase clinical trial. My brother expects a Covid-19 vaccination program will be starting around Christmas beginning of January focusing on health workers and the vulnerable. This is major news. It probably means no lockdowns as Biden's incoming team are saying they will do when they take over the government in late January. I expect the stock market will be exploding today to levels that we have never seen before.
