Migrants, and more important, the people who traffic and profit from migrants, are like the stock market: They're forward-looking. They make decisions now based on what they see coming down the pike.
So surprise, surprise, the media's crowning of Joe Biden president, along with many world leaders congratulating him and conducting their affairs of state with him, even as legal challenges are going on, has sent a message to Central America's gangs and Mexico's cartels, who control migrant smuggling routes to the U.S. It's time to profit. It's time to go. A new border surge has begun, in anticipation of a Biden open-borders presidency, which comes just as Democrat-run states and Biden himself are prescribing new COVID lockdowns.

WNU Editor: My friends and readers in the Americas are all telling me that the pandemic and the economic disaster that it has brought is making everyone dream of fleeing to the US and Canada. Elections have consequences, and I do not think most Americans really appreciate the flood of humanity that is going to show up at its borders in 2021 and beyond.

Biden is clueless, so he doesn't have any inkling of what is coming next.
Kamala ('Are We in Cleveland?') is following in Joe's footsteps.
I'm skeptical that lockdowns are ever going to work. They can't be continued indefinitely and once ended the virus comes right back. Absent a successful vaccine the overwhelming majority of us will get this. Approximately 99.5% of us aren't going to have any problem with it.
Frankly I think there's generally another agenda at work with lockdowns. For example in MN they experienced a spike in cases that was traced back to personal care homes. In response to this the governor wages war on restaurants, gyms, and bars and shuts them down!!
Countries like Australia, New Zealand, and Taiwan who are on islands and generally do a good job at controlling entry into their countries appear to have done a relatively good job at containing this. In contrast, in America the border "wall" is nowhere close to what needs to be done. Our borders are wide open and security at the points of entry such as the ports and the airports are a complete joke!!
We could stop right here and this would explain why we have more cases than anyone else. Add to this the obsession our governments have with testing and contact tracing. Naturally our results are going to be wildly more than others.

I live in Montreal and we have mandatory rules on mask wearing. We have also been under lock-down since October.
Our case numbers and hospitalizations are not going down.
Please don't come here
WNU,
Of course, lockdowns don't work and the economic and declines in health devastation they cause is beyond measure!!
So Montreal continues with a lockdown that isn't containing the virus. It seems if someone were serious about a solution, they'd change course. That's partly why I'm thinking there's another agenda at work with these things as seems obvious with the MN example.
Is the security for points of entry into Montreal such as the airports or any ports if it's coastal the same conflate joke that it is into America? Also, in the case of America, wirh rhe incredible emphasis on contact tracing and hypersensitive tests a massive "spike" in cases is inevitable. A positive test is just that and not necessarily a spreadable infection.
