What To Expect From U.S. Secretary Of State Nominee Anthony Blinken

A born internationalist, Blinken will seek to soothe the frayed nerves of western allies

After reports first emerged on Sunday night that Antony Blinken would be secretary of state in the Biden administration, one interview from his past began circulating on social media.

It was a September 2016 conversation with Grover, a character from Sesame Street, on the subject of refugees, directed at American children who might have new classmates from faraway countries. “We all have something to learn and gain from one another even when it doesn’t seem at first like we have much in common,” Blinken told the fuzzy blue puppet.

After four years of an administration that has separated migrant children from their parents and kept them in cages, Blinken’s arrival at the state department will mark a dramatic change, to say the least.

WNU Editor: My characterization of Biden's national security team, U.S. Secretary of State nominee Anthony Blinken included, is that they are all liberal internationalists who are very open to pursuing an interventionalist foreign policy. To say that they will be the complete opposite to President Trump and his foreign policy is an understatement. And while the news media and pundits are cheering this change, I feel nothing but sadness and disappointment.

President Trump's policy of prioritizing America first and disengaging from foreign wars and conflicts has IMHO worked .... he is the first U.S. President in my life time who did not start a new war nor escalate an existing one.

I do not see the same happening with the incoming Biden administration.

On the contrary. I am fearful that this incoming administration will start a new war, and/or escalate an existing one. His choice of Anthony Blinken as US Secretary of State only confirms this opinion. One only has to look at Anthony Blinken's history to see where the U.S. is probably going .... Joe Biden's Secretary of State Pick Has Been an Avid Backer of American Military Intervention (Reason).

On other issues like China (he represented companies that wanted to business in China), and Iran (he supports the nuclear deal) .... I also expect he will be leading a sharp break from President Trump's policies. Again. I think this is a huge strategic mistake.

In the coming weeks I will be putting more posts on what to expect in US foreign policy from a Biden administration, and how this will impact the current geopolitical situation.

On a side note. Anthony Blinken's ties to the Biden family are very deep. Case in point .... After joining Burisma, Hunter Biden requested meetings with Antony Blinken: State Dept. emails (FOX News). More here .... Secretary of State pick Antony Blinken met twice with Hunter Biden (NYPost).

Tony is a complete and utter idiot.

He graduated college and spent about 3 years as a reporter for hard Left magazines. He followed it up with a 1 year or two at law school. Then it was on the the Clinton administration to work in national security.

Clinton is known for

* Black Hawk Down in Somalia
* Ilhan Omar
* Bombing Serbia to wag the dog.

"Wag the Dog was released one month before the outbreak of the Lewinsky scandal and the subsequent bombing of the Al-Shifa pharmaceutical factory in Sudan by the Clinton administration in August 1998, which prompted the media to draw comparisons between the film and reality. The comparison was also made in December 1998 when the administration initiated a bombing campaign of Iraq during Clinton's impeachment trial over the Lewinsky scandal.[4] It was made again in the spring of 1999 when the administration intervened in the Kosovo War and initiated a bombing campaign against Yugoslavia, which coincidentally bordered Albania and contains ethnic Albanians"

* Bombing the Chinese Embassy in Serbia

In the short run it would have been worse to hit the Russian Embassy. In the long run, China will not forget.

* Bombing an aspirin factory.

Such factories are dual use. Kind f like how the Germans gassed the Viet Minh using product manufactured special at a insecticide company. I can only assume Bubba took the hit and did not want to give up sources or methods. There should have been some way of laundering the intel so as to not take the diplomatic hit. Maybe not.

* Operation Desert Fox: Necessary, but not done for the sake of the pilots flying the non fly zone but because of the foxy lady in the Oval Office. At least she didn't swallow.

Yes the Clinton National Security Team did a bank up job.

A lot of people who seek Biden are going to fall on their butt when they find out the truth. But it will be said that it is the legacy of Trump.

When military action is taken against foreign countries, it leads to blowback. Such blowback places Americans in danger. As such, there needs to be a very good reason for it and it needs to be spelled out to the American.

Trump was absolutely right to work towards disengaging from these wars that not only don't advance our interests but endanger us. I also rather liked record economic growth as brought about by tax cuts and regulatory reforms.

Watch what he does with North Korea, the Bering Sea with Putin and the South China Sea. Putin came close to ramming the McCain this week which Trump would have had a violent response. They backed off.

Expect North Korea to fire ICBMs over Japan and put a few near Guam soon, but after Trumps gone. Whatever trump and Kim had in common worked. He's behaved for over 3 years.

Russia will cause an incident in the Black Sea or Bering Strait. And I expect an American cruiser or destroyer to be rammed or surrounded and ordered to leave in the South China Sea. T
They knew Trump was ready to rumble. This crowd is a bunch of losers and we will suffer from it.

So Copley7 has 3 or 4 predictions (1 or 2 for North Korea). We shall see. I think along the same lines although I will say Copley delineates it better than I would have.

What I would like to see is full fledged Biden supporter lay out what they think China, Russia, and North Korea will do.
