China's Second Amphibious Assault Ship Has Started Sea Trials

The PLAN's second Type 075 LHD setting sails for initial sea trials.

Photos by Chinese ship potters show that China's second amphibious assault ship, a Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) known as Type 075 has started sea trials.

The vessel set sails this morning departing its pier at the Hudong Zhonghua Shipyard in Shanghai.

For the record, the first-in-class ship started sea trials in August 2020. It has since been relocated to the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) Naval Base of Sanya, on Hainan island: A total of eight LHDs are said to be on order for the PLAN.

The Hudong-Zhonghua shipyard in Shanghai is set to launch a third Type 075 in early 2021. At the moment the yard is also building the Type 054A frigate for the Pakistan Navy and, it appears, a Type 071E LPD for Thailand.

The race is on now.

China knows its global strategy of isolating Taiwan from the rest of the global community is failing, and not tenable long-term.

Longer they wait, more defensible Taiwan gets as it expands its own fleet along with submarines.

I predict that the Chinese will invade Taiwan and it will do it under a US Administration that is favorable towards them.
