Iran, China, And Russia React To The Unrest In The United States

Daily Mail: America's enemies seize on Trump's Capitol chaos: Russia says US democracy is 'limping on both feet' while Iran and China revel in sight of mob storming Capitol

 * China's state-owned Global Times tweeted images of the chaos in DC
 * They asked ironically if the destruction was 'a beautiful sight to behold'
 * Pelosi praised Hong Kong pro-democracy unrest as being beautiful
 * Russia's state-run RT said the US was getting the 'democracy' it championed
 * Venezuela 'expressed its concern' over acts of violence in Washington
 * Turkey's foreign ministry called the events in Washington DC 'worrying'
 * British prime minister Boris Johnson called for a peaceful transition of power
 * Germany's foreign minister likened scenes to events at the Reichstag in August
 * Four died as Trump supporters stormed the Capitol on Wednesday
 * The building was overrun in protest at Congress certifying election for Joe Biden

America's enemies have taunted Donald Trump today, with Russia stating US democracy is 'limping on both feet', while Iran and China have reveled at the sight of a mob storming the Capitol.

While the world is yet to hear from Putin or the Kremlin about yesterday's events in Washington DC, senior Russian lawmaker Konstantin Kosachyov made a strong statement about American democracy today.

In a Facebook post, the chair of the Russian upper house's foreign affairs committee said: 'The losing side has more than enough grounds to accuse the winner of falsifications - it is clear that American democracy is limping on both feet.'

WNU Editor: No surprises from Chinese, Russian, and Iranian state media (see above). But among my friends, family, and associates that I know in Russia and China .... they tell me that they do not really care. As to the political reaction from these countries. I am not sure about Iran and China, but I know in Russia the political leadership are more focused on the pandemic than what happened in the US yesterday. Russians are dying from the pandemic .... not from the political unrest in the U.S..

As to my own reaction. In my case I saw from a distance Russian T-80 tanks blast the Russian White House when the Russian Parliament rebelled against Russian President Yeltsin in 1993 (see here). That was painful to watch. Same thing yesterday. I understand why many in the U.S. are deeply unhappy with what has happened in the past four years .... and what they fear will happen in the next few years. But it does not give them the right to break the law and attack the Capital Building yesterday .... or BLM/Antifa attack the White House this summer. If you break the law and commit the crime .... be prepared to serve the time

I have always been consistent on why government buildings should be treated as sacrosanct. You may not like the people who inhabit these governmental buildings, but governmental buildings should always be treated separately from its occupants. If not. Take it from this Russian national. The consequences could/will be felt for generations.

Update: Should President Trump be blamed for yesterday's unrest? This is not the first time that a US political leader is being blamed for violence because of their rhetoric. President Obama's inflammatory racial rhetoric was blamed by many for the death of five Dallas police officers in 2016.  Same thing with US Senator Bernie Sanders' rhetoric that Republicans were killing seniors and the poor being blamed for the 2017 Congressional baseball shooting that severely injured U.S. Congressman Scalise (see here). Political leaders are always under the spotlight 24/7 .... and they sometimes say things that they should not. President Trump. President Obama. US Senator Sanders'. All three should not have said what they said. But they did not advocate for the mayhem and destruction that subsequently occurred. That is why I did not blame President Obama and Senator Sanders' entirely for what happened in 2016 and 2017, and why I will not blame President Trump entirely for what happened yesterday.

Editor,

Excellent commentary. I fully agree. There's very little that could be added. As an American, I never experienced anything like what you saw with the tanks.

I do remember the attack on the White House this summer and was thinking about that today. While I do recall tepid condemnation of this, it seemed nothing like the very justifiable criticism of the attacks on the Capitol. Perhaps an attack against the Capitol hits close to home whether they like the POTUS or not. In contrast, it was the White House last summer that was lived in by a POTUS many of them did not like.

I fully agree about the nature of government buildings as well. It seems many do not share such views.

One thing that I think would help to heal the country and to unify us in the short term would be to allow Trump to leave the Whitehouse on 1/20 when Biden assumes office with dignity along with an agreement not to prosecute him essentially allowing him to live his remaining days in dignity. I'm not holding my breath expecting this to happen. Of course mid to long term we are going to need to constructively address election integrity and ensuring the systemic irregularities that benefited team Biden are not allowed to happen again. To this end, I think Senator Rand Paul is on the right track when he suggests handling these things at the state levels to fix things there. Much further out into the future someone will need to properly investigate the presidential election of 2020 to properly determine if these irregularities actually altered the outcome. I believe there is a real chance that they did not.

B, you can't possibly be a real person. No human is this delusional.

7:33,

I regard B Poster as a foreign influence agent. At times I regar4d him as delusional. I have called what he does at times slow trolling. I am his biggest critic. But tell me by with a point & counterpoint. Pick out the sentences or statements that are delusional and refute them. If there are several pick out 1, 2 or 3 if you feel pressed for time.

I have stated since November 4th that the US has no business telling Byelorussia or any other country about sham elections anymore.

If you have a problem with mere juxtaposition or statements past and present, show where the comparisons are false or weak. You have not and I think you cannot. You are merely embarrassed about the hypocrisy made manifest.

7:44, when has this clod ever lived his life in "dignity"? His only defense is senility; since he actively incited treason. Now go back to shit posting in your windowless concrete bunker or wherever the hell you are. Your superiors should give you a raise and better benefits. Your co-workers, too.

You may regard me as a foreign influence agent. I assure you I'm not and I've provided you with information on how you can contact me to prove or disprove your claims about this. I would appreciate it if you actually took the opportunity to investigate rather than just spouting slander.

I am an American and I advocate for policies that I firmly believe are in our nation's interests. Do I have all the answers? Am I always right? Of course not!! Am I vulnerable to ideology? I think all of us are hence we always challenge our assumptions!!

Your second paragraph nailed it!! The only things I would add are when our government needlessly meddles in the affairs of other nations without a proper understanding of the situation blowback is all but guaranteed. The events of yesterday's indicate the Capitol Police apparently can't handle acfee lawbreakers. I'm not sure how they'd handle an actual invader. Maybe this?incident combined with our fouled up elections will cause our leaders to rethink such things.

What anon 7:44 said. If you see a problem with something I said, it helps if you point out where you think flaws are and we can address it. Childish insults do not add value to the discussion and I think could be considered trolling

Where did Trump incite treason? He gave a speech. Where in the transcripts did he say gather weapons and storm Capitol Hill?

A quote would be nice. What comes before and after the quote would also be nice.

If you look at the examples that WNU gave there was a death count associated with Obama and almost one with Bernie. With Bernie it was not for lack of trying.

The protesters at Capital Hill did not beat or kill any police officer or other that I know of.

The protesters bashing the doors, I believe were ANTIFA. AANYTIFA were certainly there. They staged riot material.

ANTIFA has not been touched, which is proof that they are the new para military arm of the Democrat Party.

They can go ahead and arrest non-ANTIFA, who were just standing around in the building. Political prisoners is a good look for the Democrat Party oligarchy.

When ANTIFA is filmed dropping off riot supplies and Muriel Bower and FIB director did absolutely nothing about it, I have to assume they are in on it.

The notion that the election needs to be studied is pure bullshit. How many court cases have stated that this a worthless claim.
Rand is a nutter. Trump will leave DC--he is never with dignity--but MNY State seems to have some very serious charges against him and states rights prevail in that.

Anon (10:24),

As has been discussed elsewhere, the courts largely dismissed the cases based upon procedural grounds without actually examining the evidence or the arguments. Had they actually seriously considered the cases we might actually have closure. The TX case that so many signed on to is a prime example.

As for the NY case, this looks like a politically motivated witch hunt to me. If they are going to pursue this, they need to be fully transparent about it so there is confidence that Trump is being treated fairly. Since Trump typically hasn't been treated fairly, there's no reason for me to think he will be now by our government.

The type of detailed study on the election that is needed can't be done right now. When the time does come, Trump's legal team has compiled a great deal of the evidence. In the short term an agreement not to prosecute Trump for anything during or prior to his tenure as POTUS would probably go a long way towards healing and reconciliation. Unfortunately from the tone of your post I don't think you're interested in such things.

Some of us will always remember the best economy in our history prior to the government's response to COVID, progress that while less than perfect with regards to North Korea was progress nonetheless more than had been achieved in decades, renegotiation of flawed trade agreements, and I could go on. As the only new variable to these equations, I think it reasonable to credit President Trump for much of this.

You refer to Rand Paul as a "nutter?" Of you are going to insult someone it helps to provide examples. What I see from him is largely a principled limited government person. Standing on principle in DC is risky!!
