When violence and lawlessness erupted last summer it was justified, rationalized, and legitimized by many mainstream politicians and journalists. Now some of these same voices are complaining that, at the Capitol, there wasn’t enough of a police crackdown.
Like many people who supported Donald Trump as the lesser of two evils when it came down to a choice between him or Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden, I am on record as stating that his efforts to derail electoral vote certification were pointless, doomed to failure, and cheap political theater.
On January 6 on Capitol Hill, the farce turned violent, thanks in part to his incendiary words if not his actual deeds. During my lengthy opposition to his nomination in 2016, I half-jokingly wrote that, “Donald Trump is not a Liberal Republican or a Conservative Republican. He is a Banana Republican.” To my sorrow and chagrin, he has now proved me right.

WNU Editor: When BLM/Antifa rioters were burning and looting people's property last summer, then candidate Kamala Harris was praised by many mainstream politicians and journalists for supporting a fund to bail out those who were arrested in these riots .... Kamala Harris is slammed for pleading for people to help small businesses just months after she asked for donations to bail out jailed rioters who 'burned and looted' stores (Daily Mail). Now those who supported her efforts last year are calling for even harsher measures than what President Trump was calling for against BLM/Antifa protestors this summer. The hypocrisy of US politics and especially its media never disappoint me.

In 2020, Vote Fraud Claims Were Not 'Baseless'

I like how when the line of protester made their way through the rotunda they all stayed within the rope dividers. Quite a vicious crew they assembled.
ANTIFA/BLM caused allot more damage than the Capitol Hill protestors did. I suppose the difference in how they are treated may stem from the fact that the ANTIFA/BLM protestors wrecked and looted small businesses who probably didn't vote the way the elites wanted them to anyway. In contrast, the Capitol Hill protestors inconvenienced members of Congress. That's a big difference!!
I'm not convinced that the bulk of the rioters were Trump supporters. This simply isn't their modus operandi. This type of behavior is more typical of ANTIFA and BLM. Members of these organizations were reported by many sources to be present and could have easily infiltrated protests that were mostly peaceful.
As for the Executive Order it definitely applies as it should. This is why Trump signed it. While peacefully protesting an election that POTUS has good reason to believe was stolen and making one's voice heard are legitimate and would be supported by POTUS. Vandalism, violence, and death would not be supported by him as he made clear in his tweets that were deleted.
Unfortunately a few criminal elements have distracted from the very legitimate cause of pushing for election integrity and a proper investigation of the systemic irregularities that seemed to heavily benefit the Democrat candidate. As general James Mattis once said, "we cannot allow ourselves to be distracted by a few lawbreakers." Will he apply the same logic here? I'm not holding my breath waiting for him to do so.
BTW, Congress better do something about the Capitol Police. Had this been an actual coup or invasion by a foreign country it appears they never would have stood a chance. Unless having the Capitol police stand down, allow their ANTIFA/BLM friends in, and then shoot a lady was staged. Unfortunately POTUS may have fallen directly into their trap by calling for a protest at that particular time. The focus needed to be on election irregularities. Now the focus has shifted.
We are being stoked. We have seen it the middle east. We have seen it in the ukraine. Open our eyes. Conflict IS the goal.

The claims definitely are not "baseless." The way the media repeatedly says they are often five, six or seven times in the same article reminds me of the Shakespeare line "thou doest protest much." The better approach would be try and determine if these systemic irregularities actually were enough to alter the outcome of the election. In my considered opinion the refusal of the courts to actually address these issues and instead opting to dismiss the causes on procedural grounds hasn't been helpful. Had these cases been properly handled we may well have determined that none of this really made much difference in the outcome. In this case, we would have closure. As it is, there is no closure.
The TX case especially was one that should have been taken up by SCOTUS. Each side would have then presented their case, it would have been closely followed by everyone, and a finding could have been reached. After a proper handling of these cases it may have well been determined that Biden did not benefit enough from this to have changed the outcome. I think the courts refusal to properly address these issues was a contributory factor into what happened yesterday. It was indeed a dark day in our history for many reasons.
"Conflict IS the goal." President Trump tried to unite us. Unfortunately he failed. He was like a child's water pistol trying to fight against a vast ocean. I suppose this works on the lines of "divide and conquer." However everyone is pretty much unified against the violent protests as they should be.
Episcopalians! Be careful of the Methodists though, they've been known to walk outside the ropes.
Again clerky is breathless, but to no avail.

A source told Axios that one resulting agreement was to no longer financially support congressional election deniers, either directly or indirectly, and possibly to support primary challengers.
"that his efforts to derail electoral vote certification were pointless, doomed to failure, and cheap political theater. "
The vote totals and vote percentages do not add up. Republican poll watchers were not allowed in large cities. In the instances were they were, they were told to stand back as far as Cleveland.

That doesn't surprise me. Standing for truth can be politically very risky.

A number of reports are suggesting just the points you make. It would have been helpful if the courts would have taken up the cases, heard the arguments and counter arguments, then reached verdicts as opposed to dismissing them on procedural grounds. Had they done so perhaps this situation could have been avoided all together.
The TX case seems especially egregious to have not heard it and to dismiss it based upon lack of standing. If one state violates electoral laws as set forth in the Constitution, then this affects all other states so of course TX and the other states who signed on had standing to bring such a case. Furthermore with so many leaders signing on in support strongly suggests the case has merit. Had SCOTUS taken up the case as Justices Alito and Thomas suggested they would have done, hear the evidence, and render a ruling based upon this we could have had closure. After all this case would have been closely watched by pretty much everyone. Instead we have the current situation. With some degree of closure perhaps it could have been avoided.
The truth is those bearded white dudes were ANTIFA. They were the people on the thug plane that's been flying around since this summer. Isn't that obvious?
Those 5 bearded white guys ANTIFA. Don't know about them specifically. But there were over 3 busloads of ANTIFA seen dropped off in once instance alone
The voice over actor guy in the buffalo horn costume, who has been to many protests and is said to be QANON, I would like to see if he is canceled. The Left cancels people, If he is not canceled or prosecuted that will tell me a lot.
But about that QANON stuff

Even when untrue the Democrats have been eager to promote it to get people like George H. W. Bush. I heard about Franklin in the late 1990s years after it was said to be unfounded. Democrats still wanted a piece of George H. W.
Between stuff that is true, stuff that is true and people see no prosecution (Bill Clinton, Duke of York, Jeffrey Epstein (unprosecuted) and others), why should people not believe in in QANON?
