Trust Between U.S. Republican And Democrat Lawmakers Now At An All-Time Low

Reuters

Hefty fines to enforce the use of masks and metal detectors to enter the House chamber. Censure resolutions. And a call for investigating whether some lawmakers aided insurrectionists.

Trust between the two parties has reached an all-time low — and it’s raising questions about how they can possibly work together on much of anything as the new session of Congress begins when some lawmakers don’t even feel safe around each other.

Much of the physical damage in the Capitol from last week’s attack by a violent mob egged on by President Trump has since been repaired: The tear gas residue and garbage in the hallowed halls are gone, and new glass panes were installed in the entrance to the Speaker’s Lobby, where a rioter was fatally shot.

WNU Editor: And it is going to get worse. Many Republican Congressional lawmakers are no longer passive as they were in the past, an environment that many Democrats are clearly unaccustomed with. And for the Republican base .... they are definitely galvanized. And for those Republicans who have joined the Democrats, what did they expect .... Michigan GOP congressman Peter Meijer working to get body armor, in fear for his life after impeachment vote (WWJ Radio).

I sincerely hope nothing bad happens to Michigan GOP congressman Peter Meijer.

If a person wants to have fun they can write a statistical play about Meijer.

"Meijer was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He is the oldest son of Hank Meijer and the grandson of supermarket chain founder Frederik Meijer, whose parents emigrated to the U.S.A. from the Netherlands.[5][6] His family has been recognized as one of the wealthiest in the state of Michigan by Forbes, with a net worth above $6 billion." - Wiki

Some congressman vote according to polls, because they are literally afraid of unemployment. That is my opinion. Unless their skills are really good in accounting or as a lawyer, they may have trouble making ends meet according to their current expenses. Is it not optimal and it is not leadership IMO, but it just is.

My understanding is that after a congressman completes 6 years or 3 terms, they are vested and have a guaranteed income for life. At that point if they do not vote their conscience or for their constituents but only according to national polls they are just a damn coward/ If you don't have to worry where your next meal is coming form or a roof over your head and you still vote according to fear, you should not be in Congress.

I think there needs to be a recall election. Or at the very least he needs to be primaried.

I suspect, if there are at least 2 recall elections for representatives, then a movement will catch fire and there will also be a recall election in Meijer's district as well.

I noticed that Meijer was in intel in some capacity in the Iraq War. So many congress people are intel or JAG and not leader of trigger pullers. It really makes me believe he wanted to check a box on a list with the minimum of risk.

I wonder why Meijer is afraid of being unemployed, when he is a billionaire. If you cannot vote according to your constituents wishes, when you are billionaire, because you are afraid of polls, there is no hope of you having a backbone.

I think the best thing to hold a recall election and write satirical play about Meijer. Liberals hate satirical plays when they are the object of such plays. The play of Strzok and Lisa Page is awesome. What can they do? Sue? The play is based literally on their text and their illegitimate sex life.

If people want to tune out Hollywood, the can stop paying subscription fees and join their local country or regional theater. Usual a metro area has 2or 3. There are not Broadway, but after the COVID damage, does Broadway exist? It does, but it is limping. Besides you would need a CVOID passport to get to Broadway but not 20 miles down the read in your county. Although controlling totalitarians are trying to stop people traveling with in their country or township.

Meijer reminds me of Little Lord Fauntleroy. Pampered and not realistic.
