I hope Australia sticks to its guns and Google sticks to its word.
I remember, when Netscape was a thing and was awesome. A search engine as they are are not such a great thing that they have so much weight. We have duopoly and it sucks. Web search engines suck. LexisNexis is better, if for no other reason in that you can define a date range.
Not having a date range function on a web search is like being told you are free and have fun with the haystack. It is 1984 with velvet gloves.
There is nothing at this point notably about Google other than it is big, it is rich, it is part of a duopoly and it is evil.
