The US Attorney for Washington DC has launched a federal excessive force investigation into the death of the Trump-supporting Air Force veteran who was shot dead when rioters breached the US Capitol.

The office of Michael Sherwin, the Acting US Attorney for the District of Columbia, confirmed a formal probe is underway into the shooting death of 35-year-old Ashli Babbitt, according to the New York Times.

Sherwin has assigned his civil rights division to lead the case, which is currently under investigation by both the FBI and the DC Metropolitan Police Department.

WNU Editor: Many who participated in the storming of the Capital Building on Wednesday have already been arrested and charged. So this investigation into the death of Ashli Babbitt is not a surprise.

As to what will be its outcome?

I have seen all the videos that led to the death of Ashli Babbitt. She was not threatening anyone and she was not armed. I am sure the officer who shot her will make the claim that he felt he was danger, and he acted in self defense. Bottom line. This is something that a jury will need to decide.

On a side note. US Attorney for the District of Columbia Michael Sherwin is also investigating President Trump .... Federal prosecutor doesn’t rule out charging Trump for inciting Capitol riot (CNBC). But I do not think it is going anywhere as explained by this analysis .... Did Trump Commit a Crime When He Riled Up His Supporters Before They Rioted? (Reason).

Update: Just a flashback to what happened to all the inauguration protesters/rioters against President Trump in 2016 .... Government drops charges against all inauguration protesters (NBC).

There will be no charges. If you can shoot a black guy in the back that's running from you and not get charged it's a justified shooting. He felt threatened.🤷

Blake had knife on the floor board of the car.

Evidence shows Jacob Blake was armed with knife during encounter, Kenosha County DA says - MSN.com

Blake did not have custody of his children, who were most likely conceived by rape. Therefore he was kidnapping those children. The children might have had his DNA, but he was not married to the children's mother and he did not have legal custody.

But go ahead and compare Ashli Babbit to a kidnapper, rapist, and car thief.

I'm not comparing to any one case. You can pick from a bunch of different ones. And she was for sure insane. Q Anon is for insane people. Look at the basement dwelling horned fool at the capital. Dude is a total nutcase. If she would have obeyed the cops nothing would have happened to her. We hear that all the time.

That clearly looks like the Blake case from the Kenosha Riots. Unless you are talking about some obscure case form Florida in 1565.

Total? No, but he is pretty nutty. IMO he is full of himself. It will be interesting to follow his case for edification.

The horned fool could and should be charged with trespass and disorderly conduct or may charged no more and no less than the Code Pink demonstrators, who were in the Senate building 2018. It is the same jurisdiction. Will he get the same penalty. Will that be equal protection?

Maybe if Code Pink had been charge more, the Horned Guy and others would have thought twice and not entered the capital building. Judging how Code Pink has been treated in past disturbances in Federal buildings, people would think the most they would be charged with is a misdemeanor.
