* Mitch McConnell said Tuesday Donald Trump 'provoked' the crowd who stormed the Capitol two weeks ago is his most outright denunciation of the president
* 'The mob was fed lies. They were provoked by the president and other powerful people,' the majority leader said in Senate floor remarks
* It is still unclear if there are enough Republican votes in the Senate to convict Trump on the articles of impeachment passed by the House last week
* Republican Sen. Roy Blunt condemned the Capitol storming but he did not go so far as to say he would vote to convict
* 'What happened here two weeks ago was one of the great stains on the history of the country,' Blunt said Monday. 'It was outrageous. It was totally unforgivable'
Mitch McConnell in a major denunciation of Donald Trump said Tuesday that the president was responsible for 'provoking' those involved in the deadly Capitol storming.
'The mob was fed lies. They were provoked by the president and other powerful people,' the majority leader said on the Senate floor.
'They tried to use fear and violence to stop a specific proceeding of the first branch of the federal government, which they did not like,' McConnell continued.
'But we pressed on. We stood together and said an angry mob would not get veto power over the rule of law in our nation.'
This is the first time the top Republican has directly denounced Trump's actions related to the storming of the Capitol two weeks ago and put the onus on the president.
It is all the more dramatic because McConnell spoke unprompted.

WNU Editor: Some commentators are voicing surprise by these remarks from the soon to be ex-US Senate majority leader. They should not be. The Washington establishment have made their disdain of President Trump well known even before he won the 2016 election, and Senator Mitch McConnell is as Washington establishment as you can get. But he is now risking deeply fracturing the Republican Party, and losing a majority of its base. But it looks like he does not care.

The truth is out there....mitch sends signal to go dudes
So what, it doesn't mean a thing.
Why should Mitch care?
He gets more money from China than as a US senator.
The fact of the matter is that shipping business [owned by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's wife, Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao] has its ship purchases financed by the Chinese government, its ship constructions are built by the Chinese government, its crews are raised by the Chinese government, and most of its contracts are shipping goods from Chinese state-owned enterprises."
Let's suppose Mitch and Schumer swap spit and get Trump illegally banned for running for office.
It would not prevent Trump from campaigning against China Mitch McConnell from starting and funding a recall effort against Mitch this spring.
1:44 was so veiled as to be unintelligible.
I find his comment unacceptable. I'm suddenly tired of him after years of support.
Tired of who?
Cocaine Mitch or Trump?
Biden Picks Crazy Penn Health Director Rachel Levine as Assistant Health Secretary
"Rachel Levine has a work history of failure and illegal practices so the pick makes sense."
Levine made an order forcing nursing homes to accept infected COVID patients, killing thousands of people in Pennsylvania, while she secretly took her mom out and put in Suite in Hershey Motel.
Chinese mitch...
the truth is not just out there. It is here too
The world is upside down.
Could someone ask Mitch to a. Step down from the gop then b. step down from minority leader.
Mitch. Please retire asap.
Self-styled militia members from Virginia, Ohio and other states made plans to storm the U.S. Capitol days in advance of the Jan. 6 attack, communicating in real time as they breached the building on opposite sides and leading dozens in a hunt for lawmakers to make “citizen’s arrests,” according to new court documents filed Tuesday.
U.S. authorities charged an apparent Oath Keeper leader, Thomas Edward Caldwell, 66, of Clarke County, Va., in the attack, alleging that the U.S. Navy veteran helped organize a ring of what became 30 or 40 people who “stormed the castle” to disrupt the electoral vote confirmation of President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.
“We have about 30-40 of us. We are sticking together and sticking to the plan,” co-defendant Jessica Watkins, 38, a U.S. Army veteran, said while the breach was underway, according to court documents unsealed Tuesday.
The Post obtained hours of video footage, some exclusively, and placed it within a digital 3-D model of the building. (TWP)
“You are executing citizen’s arrest. Arrest this assembly, we have probable cause for acts of treason, election fraud,” a man replied, according to communications recovered from her phone, the FBI alleged.
“We are in the main dome right now. We are rocking it. They are throwing grenades, they are fricking shooting people with paint balls. But we are in here,” a woman believed to be Watkins said, according to court documents.
A man then responds, “Get it, Jess,” adding, “This is ... everything we f------trained for!”
Citizen arrest. Scary
Not as scary as Clapper, Brennan and Haspel spying on Americans and making shit up.
Nor as scary as People in various branches of government violating their oaths of office and not performing their duties.
You consider this a comment? Do you realize what you are saying?

Mitch good guy till he told the truth about your GOD and then he is not good. TRUMP IS A LOSER. LOST THE WHITE HOUSE. LOST THE SENATE. LOST THE HOUSE. LOST POPULARITY (SEE RECENT POLLS) LOST POPULAR VOTE. LOST ELECTORAL COLLEGE...LOSER LOSER LOSER

A citizen's arrest is an arrest made by a private citizen – that is, a person who is not acting as a sworn law-enforcement official. In common law jurisdictions, the practice dates back to medieval England and the English common law, in which sheriffs encouraged ordinary citizens to help apprehend law breakers.
So there is ancient precedent.
Furthermore, what do you do when people break the law and are not held accountable?
Gina Haspel, Brennan and Clapper spied on Americans. Anyone go to jail?
Snowden broke the law. But he also found many people who were breaking the law. Did they go to jail?
The programs he exposed were illegal and shutdown. Those programs did not create themselves. Anyone go to jail?
Here is a conundrum for an illogical professor, If people plotted to storm the capitol back in December or November, how did Trump's January 6th speech move those people to action?
"Mitch good guy till..."
Wrong. But you are a non-STEM prof, so it is not unusual. Mitch was reviled in 2017. Because he got a number of court picks through he started to make up for it. Then he ruined it, since October.
To be truthful, but you are never truthful, Mitch went from Zero to Hero to Zero.
This is also the reason he will be the Senate minority leader and the GOP lost those two runoff races in Georgia.
Those seats were lost by vote fraud as well.
