Breaking Defense: Israel Rejects US Plan To Inspect Chinese Harbor At Haifa
TEL AVIV: Israel has refused an American request to inspect the new Chinese-built Haifa port that will be operated for the next 25 years by SIPG, a Chinese company. This is being seen in both countries as a test case of Israel’s relationship with China and with the United States.
Israeli officials declined to comment on the story, first reported by the Israeli daily newspaper, Haaretz.
The domestic political chaos here has pushed the issue onto the backburner. But after the March elections — the fourth in less than two years — the new government must deal with the problem.
Sources here say the Biden administration will raise the issue again. President Biden has not yet called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu; he has called many other world leaders.

WNU Editor: The Israelis do not want the U.S. to nosy around. And while I can understand Israel's position that it is protecting its sovereignty, I thought there was suppose to be a special relationship between the U.S. and Israel when it comes to issues of national security. I guess I am wrong.

Why should Israel bow down to Joe Biden, who hates Israel and Netahyahu even more, when Biden gets the bulk of his family's money from China and Biden allows China into the American electrical grid?
There are leading and lagging indicators. A leading indicator would be contracting for port services or having supplies staged. American warships do make port calls to Israel. Probably because it is after than Egypt or Turkey. That and America is an ally of Israel when there is a Republican president.
China is in the port deal simply for the money. There are secondary benefits and China intends to use them. Most employees at Haifa will be Israeli. Just like most American ports run by the UAE have American employees. But there is that risk for America and Israel.
But we take that risk all the time, so why only call out Israel. We know why.

we saw Netanyahu meet with Putin and people were alarmed. But considering that Netanyahu had to deal with shitshow Obama, hedging makes a lot of sense.
There are a lot of people in democart govs that don't like Israel or Jews for that matter. The Israelis are covering their bases because the Chinese can do things like this for cheap, no one else can. Any country that can build hundreds of hospitals in a week can build anything.

Jack, Fred, troll, whoever the hell you are, if you would have read the article, Trump did get the Israelis to pull out of a project with China. Between th2 projects, harbor and desalinization plant, the plant was the more critical one to US interests. I assume this to be so for the possible telemetry data that could have surreptitiously collected. Pompeo got that done quietly.
Maybe Israelis would have built their own port if so many Israelis were not deep state or socialist.
