US Presidents And Their Air Force One Stairs Fiascos (Videos)

At the time, the leftist US press gleefully publicized President Ford's mishap, and there were more than one. They used to portray Ford as a lunkhead former college football lineman who did not have the mental capacity to be US President. The US press has never portrayed a Republican President in a favorable light.

Gerald Ford saw action in WW2 in the Pacific. So he was rather more than just a football player.

Mr. Ford also taught a number of technical courses while in the military. It is possible that he could have stayed safe as an instructor on the East Coast. To Ford's credit, he applied for sea duty. He served on a light carrier. Several light carriers got plastered by the Japanese and were sunk. Serving on a CVL or CVE was very risky. In addition Ford was a navigator and that is a BFD as China Joe would say.
