But the Pentagon chief said New Delhi has not yet acquired the S-400.

NEW DELHI — Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin hinted during a visit to New Delhi on Saturday that India’s planned purchase of an advanced Russian missile system could trigger U.S. sanctions, but left room for New Delhi to back away from the deal.

“We certainly urge all our allies and partners to move away from Russian equipment … and really avoid any kind of acquisitions that would trigger sanctions on our behalf,” Austin said in response to a question from a reporter about India’s plan to acquire the S-400.

Maybe Fat Boy Austin could get with the program. It looks all could to the hog at the corporate trough, but India has a budget. Sop American capital good have to start becoming affordable , we have an ally that goes broke procuring American equipment for its military or we have no ally.

We are not going to war with Russia and China already stole most of it, so corporate board member and DC denizen Austin can get off his high horse.

I get the radar signature problem. If a S-400 lights up (excuse the poor terminology) an America or allied craft than you know what that aircraft looks like on a S-400. You would not want that transmitted back to Moscow. Maybe it does not matter, but why take the chance.

With all the hackers and crackers we and the Indians have could we not prevent the S400 from relaying information to hostile or potential people?

War is a lot about money. If India cannot afford a defense, they are not going to be an ally. Pirate Kingdom is a popular series in Netflix now,. The reason given for the end of the War of Spanish Succession per the series is that all sides were economically exhausted. If you look you will see more examples of that or the importance of money. Like the Duke of Marlboroguh not being able to campaign, because there was no money.

Does it work for the US if they buy a the equipment they need for their air force, but are too broke to buy enough for their army? India would not make too good of an ally in such a case.
