Reuters: Former Pentagon chief says U.S. should deploy troops along Black Sea
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Former Secretary of Defense Mark Esper says the United States should deploy more troops along the Black Sea in Bulgaria and Romania to deter potential aggression from Russia as tensions between Moscow and Washington heat up.
Esper, now a fellow at the McCain Institute for International Leadership at Arizona State University, said “I think we need to continue to stand up to Russia and trying to deter their bad behavior.”
Washington should look to reassure European allies and boost the NATO alliance by deploying more forces in Poland, “into the Baltics, if it makes sense, and places like Romania and Bulgaria, if not on a permanent - on a rotational basis,” Esper said in an interview with Reuters on Tuesday.

I miss Trump. He was taking Task Force Smith out of Afghanistan and so reducing our exposure and risk. No one had plans to win anyway. Trump also would negotiate from strength after giving the Ukrainians effective weapons system while not making Russia into a bogeyman like the Democrats.
Seeing as to where the Democrats have put us, a global war would be good right now. It worked in WW2. It might not work this time. Old FDR was barely smart enough to know that he could not go to war against his country and the Germans at the same time. So he chose Germany and the rest is history. Today's liberals are not that smart.

Giving an ally effective weapons unlike Obama is not the same a telling the to go over not the offensive. Not in Taiwan versus China nor Ukraine versus Russia.
Language is a burden. It is provable fact. That is not to say it isn't fun or useful. The Ukrainians should not go all French on ethnic Russians and ban the speaking of Russian, but I do not know that it has happened. Russia wants Ukraine to have a federal system. Does Russian have one?
I would rather go into a general or global war with Russia as allies, but it is not to be.
