President Biden Calls For A Ceasefire As The Israel-Gaza War Escalates

The Hill: Biden backs Middle East cease-fire in call with Netanyahu

President Biden on Monday expressed support for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip during a call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the White House said.

It marked the first time the president has publicly called for a cease-fire over the course of a week of intensive diplomatic efforts to ease violence as Hamas rocket fire and Israeli retaliatory airstrikes have terrorized the region.

“The President expressed his support for a ceasefire and discussed U.S. engagement with Egypt and other partners towards that end,” the White House said in a readout of the call.

Nobody from China to Russia through North Korea, Iran or Israel...at least, care about Biden. This guy is just taken about what he is: an almost dead guy.

Why a cease fire? So Hamas can regroup and rearm for a couple years? Wash, rinse, repeat. Biden doesn't give a shit about Israel, why should they give a shit about Biden?

Anon said...

Jac, all the countries you mentioned do not have to care about Biden. They just have to call for ceasefire too for the care of humanity not Biden.

No one is going to listen to that perverted, senile, corrupt and incompetent ghoul known as Joe. He's not a legitimate president on top of it all. His associated pushed for violence and terrorism in your streets. He's a step from the grave which will lead him and anyone who followed this decrepit ghoul directly into hell.

Having been established as the GOP’s undisputed ruler, Trump is encountering some of the headaches and tensions common to all autocrats. The first and most obvious is the lack of a clear succession principle. In 2020, the party proudly defined itself as an organization devoted to Trump, forgoing the creation of a party platform beyond ‘We ❤ Trump.’ No wonder other notables who would seem to have their own independent bases of support, like Nikki Haley and Sen. Mitch McConnell, can’t bring themselves to quit him, and dissidents like Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger face de facto excommunication. How could any of them make a claim to become the new leader of the party if the party only exists to serve the current leader? Because actively opposing Trump is impossible, Republicans with presidential ambitions have no choice but to ingratiate themselves with him in the hope of gaining an advantageous position in the squabble for his endorsement should he choose not to run.

Another issue common to both authoritarian regimes and the Trump-era Republican party is the paucity of trustworthy, honest information. Most autocrats struggle to figure out who is telling them the truth and who is a yes-man—the incentives of lower-level officials to inflate their success to their superiors are infamous. Trump embraces the problem, eschewing anyone who dares to give him bad news.

And then, of course, there’s the brain drain. One of the problems of strangling and restricting a society for political expediency is that there are always other options. The people with the most human capital—extraordinary abilities, intelligence, skills, etc.—are the most likely to defect. The Soviet Union and its allies leaked talent at an extraordinary rate. Judging by how many former Republican luminaries have publicly broken with Trump, the Republican party, or both, its brain drain could be even quicker.

The GOP’s Telltale Signs of Authoritarianism

"Having been established as the GOP’s undisputed ruler, Trump is encountering some of the headaches and tensions common to all autocrats..."

Why would someone desperately post propaganda by the discredited Lincoln Project four time in four separate blogposts. Is it a cry for help?

The Lincoln project was cofounded by a pedophile and a back stabber.

Remember the peeps, who said :If trump gets elected he is going to start a war?". Or the peeps who said he would never leave the White House voluntarily? Same peeps are now telling us he is a dictator. Lib-Logic!

The top five freshman members of Congress who've missed the most votes this year are all House Republicans, according to data collected by Quorum.

By the numbers: Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.) led the pack, missing 16.2% of votes. Cawthorn ranks sixth overall among all members — both House and Senate — in terms of missed votes.

The House Democratic freshman who missed the most votes is Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.), No. 14 on the list, at 2.82%.
Sen. Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.), No. 12, missed the most votes in the Senate as a freshman, at 3.14%.

What they're saying: “Rep. Cawthorn married the love of his life on April 3rd of 2021. Due to his honeymoon, he missed House votes occurring between April 13th and April 16th," his spokesman Micah Bock told Axios.

Four of the votes that Sen. Lummis missed were due to a record-level blizzard that hit Wyoming this year, Lummis's office said.

I don’t want to alarm anyone, but apparently, the latter days of the former administration* fall somewhere between bedlam and the House of Usher. The former president* was scaring the daylights out of the uniformed military, and the attorney general was spending out money chasing internet hecklers. From Axios:

The one-page memo was delivered by courier to Christopher Miller's office two days later, on the afternoon of Nov. 11. The order arrived seemingly out of nowhere, and its instructions, signed by Trump, were stunning: All U.S. military forces were to be withdrawn from Somalia by Dec. 31, 2020. All U.S. forces were to be withdrawn from Afghanistan by Jan. 15, 2021. What the fuck is this? Miller wondered.

It was not the first time that question was asked over the preceding four years.

The relatively low-profile Miller had first met Trump as an NSC counterterrorism adviser on Oct. 26, 2019 — the night of the special operations raid that killed ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. A request by the commander in chief to lead the Pentagon was not something that Miller, a U.S. Army veteran, felt he could turn down, despite pleas from his family and friends. Miller told associates he had three goals for the final weeks of the Trump administration: #1: No major war. #2: No military coup. #3: No troops fighting citizens on the streets.

Lofty goals in a democracy.

Meanwhile, across town, Bill Barr was tasking the DOJ to find out the names of people who were mocking Rep. Devin Nunes on the electric Twitter machine. The DOJ issued a subpoena to Twitter to flush these miscreants into the open.

Given Congressman Nunes’s numerous attempts to unmask his anonymous critics on Twitter—described in detail herein—Twitter is concerned that this Subpoena is but another mechanism to attack its users’ First Amendment rights. Recent litigation also alleges that Congressman Nunes may be using the government to unmask his critics.

We are lucky that the Republic survived—for a while, anyway. The same can truly be said for all of us.

John McEntee, one of Donald Trump’s most-favored aides, handed retired Army Col. Douglas Macgregor a piece of paper with a few notes scribbled on it. He explained: “This is what the president wants you to do.”

1. Get us out of Afghanistan.

2. Get us out of Iraq and Syria.

3. Complete the withdrawal from Germany.

4. Get us out of Africa.

Upon receiving the order described above, Macgregor is described as being “astonished.” He reportedly shot it down, saying to McEntee that the order of a full withdrawal from all of these locations would be difficult to accomplish by January 20th. McEntee reportedly replied by telling Macgregor to do as much as he can do.

Word eventually spread at the Pentagon of the lame-duck President’s order for a massive change in the US military global footprint in the final weeks of his presidency. Swan reports that Joint Cheifs of Staff Chairman Mark Milley and other “top military brass” were appalled by the idea. When reached to discuss at the White House, National Security advisor Robert O’Brien and White House Counsel Pat Cipollone were unaware of the order.

Swan appeared on Morning Joe Monday morning to discuss his latest report and told Washington Post’s David Ignatius that he felt no broad plan behind Trump’s withdrawal order, other than disrupting and derailing the transition to the Biden administration completely.

Do you remember Germans being in Iraq? I don't. The Poles and Ukrainians were. Those are real allies. Germany not so much.

Would Sir Frederick Lapides the Illustrious illustrate why stationing troops 500 or more miles from the borders nearest Russia is the best way to defend Poland, Germany and France?

What do you think would be the best strategy for NATO in case of invasion by the Russian Bear?

1)Scorched Earth?

2) Gasbag?

3) Prevent Defence?

The gasbag defense worked really well for the Germans defending Seelow height during the Russian drive on Berlin. The Wehrmacht got steamrolled, but the Russians did not expect the bloody nose they received.

As a 5 star arnchair general how would you position American forces to protect our allies, Germany and Poland?
