TORONTO – For Michigan’s governor, the 645-mile pipeline jeopardizes the Great Lakes. For Canada’s natural resources minister, its continued operation is “nonnegotiable.”
The clash over Calgary-based Enbridge’s Line 5, which carries up to 540,000 barrels of crude oil and natural gas liquids across Michigan and under the Great Lakes each day, is placing stress on U.S.-Canada ties – and raising questions about how the close allies, which have expressed a desire to work together to fight climate change, can balance energy security with the transition to a clean-energy economy.

WNU Editor: Let this sink in. This pipeline provides 53 percent of Ontario’s crude and 66 percent of Quebec’s and 55 percent of Michigan’s propane needs. Politicians on both sides of the border are saying that U.S. - Canada relations are great. The truth is that they are not.

If only there was some way Canada could be less dependent on the US for it's oil and gas.

You do not tell an infrastructure company and the public "Oh BTW, you have 8 months to replace a major construction project that takes 3 to 10 years to complete".

Any wager on how she would obfuscate permitting to make sure there is no replacement pipeline?
She is a stupid, dumb ass lawyer. Too many more of her and lawyers as a profession will be banned like computers were in Frank Herbert's novel "Dune". There is a lawyer in the extended family and they are pretty good. They got a nursing degree followed by a law degree so that when they practice law, hopefully they give lawyers a good name. Whitmer is not like that. She is just a very narrow minded, power hungry bastard.
As a western Canadian, I hope Eastern Canada gets what they deserve/continues to voted in. If only there was some way to get oil/energy East...
