Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has opted to replace his defense and interior ministers Saturday amid a rapidly deteriorating security situation across Afghanistan.
With foreign forces withdrawing and the Taliban's reach expanding,the deteriorating situation has forced the president to act.

Vietnam all over. Move in, get the locals to fight on the grand scale of modern militaries, get discouraged at the cost, leave.
The taliban are obviously more motivated. Nonetheless they were not able to defeat an Afghan run opposition in the Panshire Valley led by Masood before his assassination, nor were the Russians. Is there something different about today's Afghans?
At least we didn't set them up with a space program for national prestige.
