DW: Germany: Russian spy activity becomes 'more brutal'
A security agency chief has warned that Moscow has a "very complex intelligence interest in Germany." However, far-right extremism is the country's current "greatest threat," he said.
Russian intelligence is as active in Germany as it was "during the Cold War era," the head of Germany's domestic intelligence agency (BfV) said in comments published by the German Welt am Sonntag newspaper.
BfV leader Thomas Haldenwang said the Kremlin has a "very complex intelligence interest in Germany in almost all policy areas."
"We recognize that Russia has significantly increased its activity," Haldenwang told the Sunday newspaper. "So far, we have only known the level we have achieved in the meantime from the Cold War era."

Um, sorry but that German BfV agency insignia looks like a cross between Foghorn Leghorn and Daffy Duck.

IMHO Russ the the agency insignia looks like standard issue medieval heraldry. Maybe the eagle should look more life like the US presidential seal. If that is your opinion, it is well taken.

I am not an expert on medieval heraldry far from it, but I believe the insignia is a eagle rampant. I finally found out how the double headed eagle came about, which has been used by the Byzantium Empire, Russian Empire and Russia.

I do have a bone to pick or perhaps a clarifying query to WNU. Maybe two years ago there was a discussion of how American and Russian spies were treated in Lebanon by Hezbollah.
Hezbollah kidnapped and tortured Buckley to death. Some Russian got hurt in Lebanon too. WNU stated that the Russians retaliated so that Hezbollah would never do that to Russians again.
There have been other posts as well.
Perhaps the best way to describe the business is that there are two stable minima. To stay in the minima where it is live and let live, you have to play hardball or it is all one way.
