Study Says People Becoming More Desensitized To Pandemic Life

Study Finds: COVID-19 risk-taking is going up as people become more desensitized to pandemic life

DAVIS, Calif. — COVID-19 has been headline news for over a year now. Although the virus is still out there and new cases come in every day, a new study finds the public is starting to tune out coronavirus updates. Researchers from the University of California-Davis say society is becoming desensitized to the health crisis, especially when it comes to following pandemic-era safety measures.

Their study looked at both COVID-19 new articles and reaction to these updates on Twitter to see how the public’s attitudes are changing since early 2020. Researchers say that despite the death toll continuing to increase, people are generally showing less concern about COVID-related news.

WNU Editor: I would not say desensitized. I would say people are more "fed-up" with all the restrictions. This blogger included.

Update: Putting everything into perspective .... You're More Likely to Get Murdered in Chicago Than Be Hospitalized for COVID-19 (PJ Media).

People can do everything right and Fauci can create a new crisis that is not to go to waste

NIH Lifts Funding Pause on Gain-of-Function Research

What is the next virus that Fauci will fund gain of function research on?

Adenovirus?
Norovirus?

Will Fauci find another lab outside of the US to conduct his work? Say Gorky?

In London most people don't wear a mask outside, maybe 10%-15% do

But on BBC news 24/7 panic porn, lying through their teeth that hospitals are filled or overwhelmed while everyone knows they're not

And what they didn't show on TV: nearly 100k demonstrators gathering to shout "arrest boris Johnson".. did anyone know outside UK?I live IN London and didn't know because the media didn't cover it..I found out on banned.video, and a few sites on rumble. No where else... did you see it on US TV? It was crazy

We will not get herd immunity. We will see Darwinian thinking affirmed.

Lambda variant is is prevalent in South America. China Joe is letting Illegals in every day and 30% of them are refusing vaccinations. So no I do not see us reaching herd immunity especially since it is a nebulous, movable goalpost.

Does it make sense?

The Democrat Party is a criminal Party much as the NAZI Party.

The second article you linked is interesting. I live in Chicago and do a lot of volunteer work in its worst areas. One of the more infamous is Englewood, which in just seven months has a murder rate 22x higher than the national, annual rate per 100K. Still with 5 months to go...it will probably hit 30-plus times the US national homicide rate by then.

For father's day we were working in Bronzeville (which isn't nearly as bad) and while I waited at the train station there were numerous gun shots within less than a block and everyone was taking cover up on the train platform. It was barely 5PM and in a residential area with houses, families, a high school, a church, and a park (where barely weeks ago an unarmed 18 year old boy was gunned down while walking from the park to his house...on a Saturday around 2PM) all within a stones throw.

The sense of disorder and danger has spilled even beyond the already tragically violent South and West hoods. On the 4th of July the police closed all of Millenium Park (huge park in the heart of downtown - where "the bean" is) about 3.5 hours before it normally closes. It was in response to huge groups of mostly teens or early twenty-somethings, boys and girls, who started running amok all over down town shooting fireworks at police or random people walking, smashing things, stealing, just being crazy for the sake of being crazy. The police were out chasing people around like a cartoon until 2AM at least when I finally went to sleep. All the while huge home made bombs were being thrown randomly from cars or from backpacks and thrown the cops or tourists - who at that point were the only ones not really grasping what was going on and / or knowing where to go.

Anecdotal but just this evening a group of teens lit a firecracker and threw it at my face while I sat outside Starbucks, at complete random, downtown on Michigan ave. at 6PM. There was no communication, no argument, not even a look. I was just sitting looking at my phone trying to do a mobile order. All the tourists on the street screamed and were clearly terrified as well as puzzled. One of them in broken English asked me "is this normal?!?" All I could think to say ways "normal for some". And no, I didn't macho-man chase them as they ran off, or do anything other than jump away from the firework. Which is a humiliating feeling for someone that is capable of defending themselves...but not in the context of a city where even teens shoot people (and themselves are being shot). So average people and businesses just have to kinda sit and take it, and those who are most antisocial or violent are in control and aware of just how much they're able to get away with.

Alex, Good info. I hope you keep writing.

Sorry you were harassed. How did the mobile order turn out through?^_^

An 18-year-old man was killed Monday afternoon in Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood. The teen was shot in his head and chest around 4:30 p.m. near the alley in the 200 block of East 38th Street, according to Chicago police.

WNU,

I do too. Alex is my man in Chicago. I do not personally know him, but he is like a true journalist in the original sense of the word. Last time my spouse and I were in Chiraq to get visas at a consulate, were harassed by 3 young men a block or two north of the Chicago River, while walking south on the Magnificent Mile in the middle of the afternoon.

I noticed a policeman on every block and a beggar on every corner. One beggar stood out. She was a black woman in a wheelchair in nice clothes that you could wear to work for an office job. Hard to tell if she was really crippled or or not, but she was begging.

The three young men had a single card carousel with post cards. Does it really take 3 men to man one carousel on a sidewalk? My answer up until now was no. but maybe 3 young men without a permit selling probable stolen merchandize do, so the police won't hassle them.

If you want to see anti-Americanism visit the Chicago Cultural center across the Millennium Park. In the center you will see a proper ranking of people according to identity politics.

A pedestrian views a cancer patient and sees horror.
A doctor views a cancer patient and asks What can be done.
A researcher asks: what causes illness and how can causes be rectified.
ps: those upset by what they see seem to have no concern with gun controls that work...compare stats with other nations

crap, WNU you just proved me wrong. thanks for the PJ media link

Girlie boy is still doing his one factor analysis. You ask that guy to try multivariate analysis and all he does is call you names.

I think idiot is afraid variables, girls, and guns, which is why there are those allegations that keep popping up.
