Taliban Are Reverting Back To Their Old Ways In Newly Seized Afghan Territory

The Taliban is enforcing its harsh interpretation of Islamic rule and reverting to its fundamental roots as it makes huge advances across Afghanistan (file image)

KUNDUZ: Days after the Taliban captured a remote district in Afghanistan’s north, they issued their first orders in the form of a letter to the local imam. 

“It said women can’t go to the bazaar without a male companion, and men should not shave their beards,” said Sefatullah, 25, a resident of Kalafgan district. 

The insurgents also banned smoking, he added, and warned that anybody violating the rules “will be seriously dealt with.” 

The Taliban are making huge advances across the country as they capitalize on the final withdrawal of foreign troops — capturing districts, seizing key border crossings, and encircling provincial capitals.

WNU Editor: The Taliban are not going to change their nature.

I am always amazed on watching pundits in the West trying to rationalize on why they believe the Taliban will change their ways and not be what they were in the past. 

Here is my prediction.  This current batch of the Taliban are going to be far worse than what they were in the 1990s. They know much of the country does not support them, so they will have to be even more brutal in enforcing their rule. And they will enforce their rule.

I do wonder whether many people were living by different rules in those districts before now. The real test will be in the cities.

Afghan's have to blame themselves, They always rely on American forces instead of working hard to be self relevant.
