The U.S. Capital Fencing Will Finaly Be Removed This Weekend

MARCH 4: National Guard soldiers, who were stationed at the Capitol for months, stand guard at a road block

Daily Mail: Capitol fencing will FINALLY be removed on Friday six months after the January 6 riot - but visitors will still be banned from going inside

* Capitol police announced Wednesday night the fence would take three days to be dismantled, depending on storms set to hit D.C. * The extra security perimeter fence has stayed up since January 6

* Visitors have not been allowed in the building and have been kept at a distance

* Because of COVID restrictions, the Capitol has been off limits for 15 months

* Capitol cops initially set up a huge 'green zone' with razor wire fences, but it has since been scaled back

* National Guard finally left the Capitol in May after they were deployed in January

The fencing installed around the Capitol after the January 6 riot will start being removed as soon as Friday, but most visitors are still not allowed inside the iconic building.

That's according to the House sergeant-at-arms in a memo obtained by DailyMail.com Wednesday to all members of Congress and staff.

'Based on USCP’s assessment of the current threat environment and USCP’s enhanced coordination with District of Columbia, neighboring state and federal law enforcement partners, the Board supports USCP’s recommendation to remove the temporary fencing around Capitol Square. Removal is expected to begin as early as Friday, July 9th and conclude within three days, weather permitting,' it read.

WNU Editor: Even with the removal of the fence, the Capitol will remain closed to most visitors for the foreseeable future.
