Politico.eu: Disbelief and betrayal: Europe reacts to Biden’s Afghanistan ‘miscalculation’

'This does fundamental damage to the political and moral credibility of the West,’ says senior German lawmaker.

BERLIN — Until Sunday, Europe thought Joe Biden was an expert on foreign policy.

Now, the American president’s decision to allow Afghanistan to collapse into the arms of the Taliban has European officials worried he has unwittingly accelerated what his predecessor Donald Trump started: the degradation of the Western alliance and everything it is supposed to stand for in the world.

Across Europe, officials have reacted with a mix of disbelief and a sense of betrayal. Even those who cheered Biden’s election and believed he could ease the recent tensions in the transatlantic relationship said they regarded the withdrawal from Afghanistan as nothing short of a mistake of historic magnitude.

WNU Editor: The reaction from what I have read and seen in Europe on President Biden's Afghan decisions has been overwhelmingly negative. To be fair .... Europe has been warning for months that a quick U.S. withdrawal would be a disaster.

Now every European capital knows that in the coming weeks and months they are going to be facing another massive refugee crisis and are getting ready for it. Case in point .... I think the bigger lesson for us all is this: a bunch of cave men with the equivalent of sticks was able to defeat a tyrannical machine threatening to change their culture and laws

Maybe people in Canada, France and the US realise that you don't need nukes to get your rights and freedom back.

Not saying do this, but if the governments become any more authoritarian, maybe it's a good thing to know that even the Taliban could do it.

All it takes is will.

Why talking about detail? We did a huge strategic retreat mistake and it is now too late for fixing it.

folks here detest the European countries. Now, suddenly, they worry about the feelings of Europeans! what a fucking joke.
Ask yourself this: do you want the US to stay there or do you want them to leave, as Trump decided

We don’t give a flying fuck what the Euros think. But the Biden admin sure does. And frankly the worse they think of the Biden org the better. Biden and his handlers deserve the scorn of planet earth. I hope it’s only starting. The more contempt they generate onto themselves, the less likely we’ll have to suffer through two terms of this humiliation.

Folks detest Europeans detesting America in general and Trump in particular. Dumbass socialists freaks like Merkel and Macron got what they and and now they are complaining. For

4 years Europeans leaders complained about Trump. Biden was elected and it was their salvation. Merkel would not have to live up to the NATO agreements and she was relieved, when Biden was elected. Well is she happy now?

" do you want the US to stay there or do you want them to leave"

There is a difference between a retrograde, a well ordered retreat or a rout. This is a rout.

I have a lot of recent and current European roots. What I object to is socialist trash in Europe or America.
