Taliban Now Within 40 Miles Of Kabul. Witnesses Say There Is Absolute Panic In Afghanistan's Capital

Pink areas show Taliban control while green represents territory held by the government as insurgents move through the country towards the capital Kabul

Daily Mail: T‘What was the point?’: Taliban move to within 40 miles of Kabul as former British Royal Marine tells of absolute panic in Afghanistan capital and his shame at the West abandoning the country and its people

* As of Friday, Afghanistan's government has effectively lost control of most of the country to the Taliban

* The Taliban captured Pol-e-Alam city - the capital of Logar province, just 40 miles from the capital of Kabul

* Just three cities remain under government control after Taliban the lighting-fast offensive across the country

* Former British marine Paul Farthing in Kabul spoke of the 'absolute panic' in the capital as refugees arrive

* 'I truly now want somebody to tell me – what was the point?' he said, after 20 years of British presence

* Thousands of people are believed to be fleeing their homes to escape the extremists' brutal regime

* The U.N. urged Afghanistan's neighbours to keep their borders open to allow people to flee the country

* United Nations agencies also warned of a growing humanitarian crisis in the country amid food shortages

* On Friday, Pakistan re-opened a border crossing, allowing people through the Chaman-Spin Boldak crossing

 * Following a meeting Friday NATO called on countries to support the Afghan government 'as much as possible'

The Taliban seized its 17th major city on Friday as they raced to take full control of Afghanistan and inched closer to Kabul, with the main settlement in Logar province - just 40 miles from the capital - falling to the militants.

The blitz through Afghanistan's southern heartland means the insurgents now hold half of the country's 34 provincial capitals and control more than two-thirds of the nation - weeks before the U.S. plans to fully withdraw.

As Kabul looks to be on the brink of being taken by the Taliban, fears have also been raised of a refugee crisis and a rollback of gains in human rights.

Some 400,000 civilians have been forced from their homes since the beginning of the year, 250,000 of them since May, the U.N. says.

WNU Editor: My gut is telling me that the Afghan army has disintegrated, and there is now nothing to stop the Taliban from entering Kabul.

My prediction.

Considering how quick and decisive the Taliban offensive has been, I expect fighting in the suburbs of Kabul by next week, and a major push to seize the entire capital before the end of the month.

The news that 3000 troops were being redeployed was, in actuality, an announcement that the ANA has collapsed and that the Pentagon can no longer rely on the Afghan government to maintain control over the DGZ or the HKN airport. The final day is going to unavoidably be a Saigon situation.

Afghans can fight if they want ot fight. Too many of them do not want to fight for freedom.

Proof?

What is that big green splotch in the middle of Afghanistan?

It would be Hazaraland and the Hazaras are treated miserably by the Pashtuns. They have only lived there for 8 centuries and are fellow Muslims, but it does not seem to matter. The pertinent point to this blogpost is the Hazara know the Pashtun racists, i.e. the Taliban, would persecute them if they took over and have this kept the Taliban out successfully. If the Hazaras can fight, then the rest f them should have been able to fight.

"Proof?" Based upon much discussion with friends and contact who have served in Afghanistan both in the military and as civilian contractors with very few exceptions the Afghans do not want to fight for their freedom. Obviously for those who were/are the few bright spots provisions are attempting to be made to get them out of Afghanistan. Besides the rapid advance of the Taliban suggests they may have much support within the population.

The same is happening in the US and Europe. People don't understand they need to fight tyranny. They think they can just wait it out. They think Nazi Germany couldn't happen here. Or Mao/Xi China. Or Cuba. Or the Soviet union. It couldn't just happen here. Because of that thought and passivity, IT DOES HAPPEN
The left is terrorizing everyone, thought police, forced injections, destruction of law and economy.
They're doing it because we let them.
Until we punish them severely, including the women and gender confused who are psychotic and tyrannical on the left, this will continue.

If you allow one lie, it festers
Then everyone lies
And then soon everyone is forced to accept lies or be outcast

Women cannot do everything better than men, not even close, in fact the recent years have shown they're absolute tyrants and illogical creatures

Next

Transgender people are not XYZ, they're mentally sick first and foremost. With 20 fold suicide rate. They cannot be our health ministers, I'm sorry

The left uses lies to force you to accept impossiblities

Fraudulent votes
Statistical anomalies
That it's cool you have to raise your arm or be violently attacked in the streets

The left is just like the Taliban.
Just like them.

So you better stand up and stand with your neighbours and anyone the left attacks in public. DEFEND THEM or find out first hand how Nazi Germany felt like in the early years.

Proof?

Why would the Taliban give that much land and not try to conquer it?

The road from Herat to Kabul goes through Hazaraland. Of course the Taliban want it sooner rather than later.

Imposter how does it feel to be a lowly overpaid Russian troll?

I'm not Russian. Part of the problem with an anonymous poster is I don't always know who I am actually addressing. If you are who I think you are, we have addressed the question of my identity numerous times before and I have shown your claim to be false. I cannot help your refusal to objectively examine the evidence. This is a characteristic of our leadership class. They generally refuse to examine anything that might interfere with their assumptions. Perhaps you are a member of this class. Unlike you who I have no idea who you are I have made it very easy to find me.

Now to try and answer your questions. "Why would the Taliban give that much land and not try to conquer it?" When and how something is conquered is a mater of timing and strategy. The Taliban have proven themselves to be very good military strategists.

"The road from Herat to Kabul goes through Hazarland...." Of course the Taliban will want this sooner rather than later. While they are very dangerous and capable, these things will take some time and they aren't supermen. I suspect much of the country will be taken by the Taliban fairly quickly but parts will likely manage to hold out for some time. I doubt any pockets of resistance would be or ever could be enough to actually turn the tide of the war.

The primary reason for this outcome lies with the Afghans themselves. For a variety of reasons the roles of other factors, while not non existent, will be elevated beyond what they actually were.

The slur of accusing me of being a Russian troll appears to be an attempt to distract from the issue at hand and is the very definition of trolling. Such things are counterproductive and a waste of time. If you can somehow find it within yourself to stay on topic and refrain from baseless insults of me, this can be productive. This is how we learn and I do NOT nor have I ever claimed to have all of the answers.

We'll be right back to 2001 in a few months. Just pretend the last 20 years didn't happen: Massoud was JUST assassinated by Bin Laden and the Northern enclave has subsequently fallen while the final holdouts to the Talibs are the ethnic Hazara areas.

You could erase the entire US occupation from the history books and by all appearances Afghanistan would be the same before and after.

The Left storming...?
IT WAS THE TRUMPSTERS IN JAN 6 who tried to prevent an electoral count and cause an insurrection vote. that would overturn the huge popular vote and electoral count
500 arrests thus far! and yes, all Trump supporters and the evidence is there
