It's now been ten years since nearly 3,000 persons passed away on September 11, 2001, and a year and a half since George Floyd was brutally murdered. How time flies.

Well, no, they don't, though the exact reasons may be worth thinking about some more.

Frankly the thing that strikes me about both statements is how boilerplate they are. The first one used the "public figure dies" template, the second one the "I feel very strongly about this" template. He just couldn't get around to tweaking the first one more to fit the precise situation - whereas the latter is very important to him politically.
