Ethiopia Braces For All-Out War

CNBC: Ethiopia braces for all-out war as rebels advance on capital

* The government declared a six-month state of emergency on Tuesday, days after Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and authorities in Addis Ababa told Ethiopians to take up arms to defend their neighborhoods against the Tigray Defence Force (TDF).

* Diplomats and regional leaders have scrambled to try to bring various parties in the conflict to the table, as fears grow over the possible collapse of Africa’s second-most populous nation.

A year after fighting began in Ethiopia’s northern Tigray region, rebel forces are now advancing on the country’s capital as the authorities urge citizens to mobilize.

Why is it not all out war when the Ethiopian Army invades Tigray province and kills thousands of people?

One definition of war I saw was a government was involved and 1,000 or more people died in a year.

Well, Ethiopia has a government, which was and is involved. Over eight thousand people died. Meanwhile back in Switzerland, Austria and a few other countries plus Turtle Bay the UN was content to collect their paychecks.

"The Tigray War is an ongoing civil war that began on 3 November 2020." So it has been "going on for a year and change and no UN.

"Total war is warfare that includes any and all civilian-associated resources and infrastructure as legitimate military targets, mobilizes all of the resources of society to fight the war, and gives priority to warfare over non-combatant needs."

Civilians in Tigray were targeted last November 2020, so it has been all out war, since the start.

In all of this bullshit reporting on Eitheopia, I have yet to see a single paragraph describing the condition of the Eitheopian army and why it is allowing these rebels to advance on the nations capital. Journalisim sucks.
