CNN: Biden administration considering options for possibly evacuating US citizens from Ukraine if Russia invades

(CNN)The Biden administration is exploring options for a potential evacuation of US citizens from Ukraine if Russia were to invade the country and create a dire security situation, half a dozen sources tell CNN.

The contingency planning is being led by the Pentagon, the sources said, and comes as the administration briefs Congress on how the US is preparing.

In a "gloomy" briefing to senators by senior State Department official Victoria Nuland on Monday night, Nuland outlined the tough sanctions package being prepared by the administration in response to a potential Russian attack, but acknowledged that the US' options to deter an invasion are fairly limited, a person familiar with the briefing said.

WNU Editor: Good luck on evacuating people out of Ukraine in the event of war. All civilian travel will be shut down, and train and road transportation will be gridlock from people fleeing the cities.

On a personal note. I have relatives who live throughout Ukraine. One of my aunts and her family lives in Kharkiv. I know they will be safe in the event of an invasion. Kharkiv is near the border and it has a huge Russian population. A good portion of the population would probably greet the Russian military as liberators if they do invade.

I have a lot of relatives in Kiev, and all of them live in the center of the city near government buildings. They are well aware that this part of the city will be a priority target for Russian missiles and air strikes  if a war starts. They have assured me that before hostilities break-out they would immediately evacuate to a town that is about 70 kilometers south of the city where my family has a long history (three centuries to be exact) and where the family ancestral home/farm is still owned by one of my cousins.

I have some cousins who live in Odessa (a city that I love and once thought of living there). They have told me tat they will hunker down.

If the past is prologue, when the Biden administration evacuates American citizens from Ukraine, they will airlift battalions of Spetsnaz to Washing DC instead!

Jesus fucken christ. I've never seen such absolute trash analysis in sometime. Thankfully your family doesn't represent the whole population of Russian-Ukrainians.

Boss, I'd greatly enjoy seeing the "family farm" some day when you feel like sharing some photos of it.
