CTV News: 'Immediate emergency situation is over': PM Trudeau revokes Emergencies Act
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says the government will take steps to end the use of the Emergencies Act after it was invoked just over a week ago in response to the ongoing trucker convoy blockades and protests.
Trudeau made the announcement alongside Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland, Justice Minister David Lametti, Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino, and Emergency Preparedness Minister Bill Blair.

WNU Editor: After seriously damaging the reputation of Canada's banks because of his actions, the Prime Minister has realized that they made a mistake (though he will not admit it) .... That's good of them! Trudeau's government orders Canadian banks to unfreeze bank accounts of people who participated in or donated to Freedom Convoy after woke leader was condemned for authoritarian behavior (Daily Mail).
As for revoking the 'Emergency Act' a day after going on the airwaves and saying why it was necessary.
Well .... the polling numbers have shown a collapse in support of the Prime Minister since the implementation of these draconian laws (link here).
Acting like an authoritarian is not a position that will garner support among most Canadians, and it looks like the Prime Minister and members of his own political party woke-up this morning realizing the obvious.

Canada needs to vote these tyrants out of office while they still can.
The science did not change. There always will be new variants. There have always been new variants. The death rate is due to people not exercising and eating right, not being able to exercise or government preventing people preventing people from exercising (It is called a lockdown or pro crime policies).
It was either the polls and/or the Russian invasion.
FDR stopped his war against the free market with America's entry into WW2. FDR was smart enough to realize he could not wage both wars. Maybe Trudeau is smart enough to realize you cannot fight Russia and fight your populace to wrest total control with an arbitrary health regimes.
The epidemics do not turn on a dime. Polls and wars do.
But in the coming election he can claim that HE revoked it.

"It was either the polls or the Russian invasion." It could be either or perhaps neither. without inside information that is in real time it impossible to "know" with 100% certainty. With that said based upon prior experience and careful observation I believe we can make reasonable inferences and as new information comes in be willing to alter our positions as opposed to blindly sticking to an ideology at all costs.
I think it's probably not the polls. These people haven't shown much concern for those in the past. Furthermore, I don' team Trudeau is materially different than team Biden. After all elections can be stolen no matter how the people vote. They probably have a plan in place to do that should all else fail. Given the two options presented, I would go with the Ukraine situation. Frankly, thus far the "west" and US "allies" have shown more unity in opposition to Russia than I would have expected. How long this will last is unknown. While Russia appears to me to be focused on geo-political objectives, the goals of our leadership class appear to me to be much more primal, namely their very survival and freedom of movement. If their likely nefarious actions in Ukraine were to be exposed, it likely would be the end for a number of high-level members of our leadership class and they are willing to use nukes to protect this. IMHO this likely explains the current positions of our "allies." Essentially the leadership class will use any and all means to protect itself. I also think it entirely possible that many "allied" leaders are in on the same types of actions as US leaders are.
Another possibility is more basic. The threat posed by the so called "freedom convoy" or whatever they call themselves is now over. Once the threat is eliminated so is the need for "Emergency Powers." It is unfortunate in such cases that some "small fry" got caught up in the bank freezes. It seems the small fry have been released. Candian leadership may deem this as a necessary action to deal with a major threat to Canadian security and prosperity. I'm NOT defending such a position but am pointing out what I think could be the thought processes of these people. While it could be the polls, I tend to doubt it.
