The White House does not support a ban on Russian oil imports, according to press secretary Jen Psaki, despite even House Speaker Nancy Pelosi joining in on the calls for the U.S. to cease buying Moscow's fuel.
'We don't have a strategic interest in reducing the global supply of energy, and that would raise prices at the gas pump for the American people,' Psaki told reporters Thursday.
Asked what would need to happen 'on the ground' in Ukraine for the U.S. to stop buying Russian oil, the press secretary demurred.

WNU Editor: When you add oil and natural gas Russia is the world's largest producer and exporter. Imposing sanction on this trade will significantly damage the world economy. If you think inflation is bad now, these measures would make it worse. The Biden administration is simply practicing realpolitik and politics. After-all .... $7 to $8 for a gallon of gas during the midterms will obliterate the Democrat Party in the House and Senate.
But there is a solution to this. Pipelines, nuclear energy, open restricted regions where energy exploration is banned .... just to name a few. But that is not going to happen. The green agenda is more important for most Western governments than confronting Putin.

Germany's Green Party is open to coal, nuclear and other energy. Germany has a good record of land reclamation record in regards to coal strip mining. It s the first time I have ever respected the Greens in Germany. They have grown up.

A partial ban on Russian oil will drive prices up. Russia could make as much money with a partial ban as without. It has to do with supply and demand curves, but don't try to understand those, if you are a non-STEM educated jerk.
