Chevron on Saturday received an expanded U.S. license allowing the second-largest U.S. oil company to resume production in Venezuela and to import the South American country’s crude into the United States.
The decision allows Chevron to revive existing oil projects in the U.S.-sanctioned country and bring new oil supplies to refiners in the United States. However, it restricts cash payments to Venezuela, which could reduce the amount of oil available to Chevron.
License terms are designed to prevent Venezuelan state-run oil firm PDVSA from receiving proceeds from Chevron’s Venezuelan petroleum sales, U.S. officials said. The license lasts for six months and will be automatically renewed monthly thereafter, according to the U.S. Treasury.

It actually makes perfect sense if you look at from an American Eco-Marxist perspective.

It makes perfect sense. Perfect in the sense that if you start with certain axioms, then this is the inexorable result.
a) The ruling oligarchy can make life hard for the pleb, but not too hard. Therefore, the price of oil must come down at least temporarily.
b) You have to keep up the pretense of not drilling to make the green acolytes, dervishes and faithful happy by banning oil exploration in the US. Oil exploration outside the Western World can be disavowed, if it is noticed at all. If it is notice the MSM will spring into action with info jamming like a wild weasel. They will disgorge clickbait, chaff or shiny objects. If person makes it through all that and the flak, they will face fact check articles, where the MSM has a second bite at the propaganda apple.
