DUBAI (Reuters) -Chinese President Xi Jinping will arrive in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday for a two-day visit that will include meetings with several Arab leaders, the Saudi state news agency SPA reported on Tuesday.

The visit is aimed at developing economic ties and strengthening what SPA described as a "strategic partnership" between China and Saudi Arabia, its main oil supplier, with dozens of agreements expected on energy and investments.

However, Xi may also discuss regional security with King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in his first visit to the kingdom since early 2016 and at a low point in Riyadh's ties with its main foreign partner, the United States.

WNU Editor: This is going to be a teachable moment on how diplomacy must be conducted in the 21rst century.

After months of private talks and discussions, the Saudis are going to be pulling all the stops to impress Chinese President Xi when he lands in Riyadh tomorrow. There will be celebrations, banquets, positive speeches, strong handshakes, a lot of smiles, followed by ceremonies where tens of billions of dollars are going to be signed, with a promise for more business and trade in the future.

Contrast this to President Biden's quick trip to Saudi Arabia a few months ago. A tepid fist-bump with Crown Prince Salman who Biden labeled as a murderer and who he would never meet. His demand for Saudi Arabia to boost oil production to crater oil prices and undermine OPEC+ production quotas and agreements. And leaving with nothing but a sour taste in everyone's mouth.

Times have changed, 30 years ago the US sended more than a half million soldiers to protect the SA oilfields. I wonder what they would do now if SA is facing the same danger.

"Contrast this to President Biden's quick trip to Saudi Arabia a few months ago. "

Joe Biden was playing to a domestic audience and, yes, Joe Biden is a literal idiot.

I actually find Karl Marx's analysis of how the ruling class separates itself from the rest of society to be instructive. Karl Marx cribbed it, but he is the best known proponent.

Joe needed to satisfy the mob Bezos and the Washington Post had riled up. So he kicked the can down the road a little father to survive the American electorate and crapped on MBS.

To satisfy (or pretend to) the American electorate, Biden asked MBS to pump more oil to paper over Biden's dumb energy policies in a bid to get Biden past the midterms. This can kicking exercise failed, but Biden's dumb ass was saved by China's decreasing demand due to COVID restrictions and the end of driving season.

30 years ago a Republican president was in charge and he was a former oil man.

Now we have a Democrat president beholden to green interests. George Herbert Walker Bush made money in the oil fields. Biden and his brothers made money through government access.

George Herbert Walker Bush was a diplomat stationed in China. Biden diplomatically plied his hands up Tara Reid's skirt.

Big difference.

Another US foreign policy success. Good to see we're working hard to give China a big slice of the ME. Well done!

Typical Biden. Piss off the Saudi's, oil used to be the most important thing in the world. I guess China will have a port in SA.
